Today marks one week since the catastrophe caused by the cold snap that hit several regions in eastern Spain on Tuesday, October 29.<\/p>\n

These days have been very hard for many Spanish soldiers<\/strong> who were eager to go to the area to help those affected. For them, the wait to be deployed in the affected area has been painful. The Spanish military contingents abroad have had to witness the tragedy far from their homeland<\/strong>, with even greater anguish and wondering if there were relatives or friends among the deceased.<\/p>\n

The military deployment in the affected area has coincided with the Day of the Fallen for the Fatherland,<\/strong> which the Spanish Armed Forces celebrate every November 2, coinciding with the Catholic celebration of the Day of the Faithful Departed. In Spain, some tributes have been made to the fallen,<\/strong> since the catastrophe cannot make us forget the sacrifice of those who gave their lives in service to the Fatherland, but these acts have gone unnoticed<\/strong> due to the military deployment in the affected area.<\/p>\n

Spain's military confederations abroad have also held tributes to those who fell for Spain. One of these tributes took place on Saturday, November 2, at the Camp Slavia base in Le\u0161\u0165, Slovakia,<\/strong> where Spain currently has command of the NATO Multinational Brigade deployed in that country. The majority of the contingent of this Brigade is Spanish and comes from the Parachute Brigade \"Almog\u00e1vares\" VI (BRIPAC)e (BRIPAC).<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Saturday, the Brigade's Facebook page posted a series of photos<\/a> of the tribute, stating: \"Today we honoured the fallen from all NATO allied armies and remembered their sacrifice.<\/strong> Paying tribute to those who gave their lives for their country is a duty of gratitude. We also remembered those who lost their lives due to the recent floods in Spain.<\/strong>\"<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In this tribute, the Spanish soldiers of the BRIPAC were accompanied by soldiers from five allied countries: Slovakia, Slovenia, the USA, the Czech Republic and Portugal<\/strong>, which are the ones that provide troops to this international contingent. The event was carried out with the usual characteristics of the tributes to the fallen that are held in the Spanish Armed Forces, bowing the flags before a cross and firing salutes of honor for the deceased<\/strong>. Along with these lines you can see the photos of this tribute published by the aforementioned Brigade. As you can see, the Spanish Flag was hoisted at half-mast<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
