Over the past few days, many media outlets have reported news about the cold drop catastrophe that ultimately turned out to be untrue.<\/p>\n

These news stories arose from a traditional problem in journalism: giving credit to sources that ultimately did not deserve it. Of all the media and journalists who disseminated information that was not true, only one has apologized: Iker Jim\u00e9nez<\/strong>, presenter of the programs \"Horizonte\" and \"Cuarto Milenio\" on the Cuatro channel.<\/p>\n

Last week he began his program \"Horizonte\" by asking for forgiveness and reflecting on the mistakes he made<\/a>, a statement that is very rarely seen in the world of journalism. Obviously, making mistakes is a human thing, and it takes courage to recognize them and ask for forgiveness<\/strong>, as Iker did on that program.<\/p>\n

CCuriously, after that statement, the main media outlets close to Pedro S\u00e1nchez's government<\/strong> (La Sexta, El Pa\u00eds, Cadena Ser, P\u00fablico, Eldiario.es and El Plural) have launched a smear campaign against Iker Jim\u00e9nez<\/strong>, even focusing on his advertisers<\/a> to leave him without resources. ING Direct bank has made the mistake of giving in to this campaign<\/a> and is currently receiving a massive response from customers unsubscribing from it<\/a> and criticizing the bank on Twitter.<\/p>\n

The real motive for this coordinated attack against Iker Jim\u00e9nez is not difficult to guess.<\/strong> Two weeks ago, Iker Jim\u00e9nez made an excellent program from Paiporta<\/a> showing the situation of abandonment in which the residents of that Valencian town found themselves two days after the cold drop. The government had not yet announced its large deployment of the Armed Forces and S\u00e1nchez received a lot of criticism.<\/strong> The same thing happened the following week<\/a>, when La Sexta tried to counter-program Iker Jim\u00e9nez with a program by Ana Pastor about the catastrophe in which most of the guests were socialist politicians or people close to the government.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, in response to the campaign against him, Iker Jim\u00e9nez published a devastating video<\/a> showing the chronology of the news that appeared about the parking lot of the Bonaire Shopping Center<\/strong>, in Aldaya (Valencia), where many media outlets indicated that there could be many people trapped underwater.
