At that time, there were no current communications satellites, so this early warning network <strong>worked using a UHF tropospheric scatter system<\/strong>, which emitted signals that could be picked up beyond the horizon. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2024\/08\/26\/gkfz-kefallonia-a-nato-base-today-abandoned-on-top-of-a-greek-island\/\">In August we saw one of the ACE High system centers in Greece<\/a>, specifically on the island of Kefalonia. <strong>The ACE High system was deactivated in 1996<\/strong>, when it became obsolete.<\/p>\n<p>Today, the Youtube channel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@okos\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Okos<\/a>, which usually publishes very interesting content related to urban exploration, has published a video in which <strong>several Spanish explorers enter two abandoned NATO bases<\/strong>, about whose location they have not revealed any information. The second of them is a communications center of the ACE High network. As you will see, <strong>the explorers used personal protective equipment due to the serious risks that these sites pose to health<\/strong>, due to the presence of asbestos and fungi, in this case at a brutal level, as you can see in the video (the video is in Spanish, you can activate automatic English subtitles in the bottom bar of the player):<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Me Infiltr\u00e9 en un B\u00daNKER NUCLEAR de la OTAN\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ysl5ECEjrys?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>You can see a couple of screenshots from this video here (of great quality, as usual on this channel). <strong>Here we see one of the underground tunnels of one of the bases.<\/strong> The facilities are enormous.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54170874241_cfcdb4cd48_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Below these lines, <strong>two of the satellite dishes of the Italian ACE High base visited by these explorers<\/strong>.
