Many also serve to generate energy. In addition, one of their functions is to contain floods such as those seen on October 29 in a part of Spain. Despite this, many detest them for ideological reasons and believe that it would be better to do without them, ignoring all the positive things they bring us.

Something similar happens with the Spanish Constitution. Many people are used to enjoying a free and peaceful life that has been possible, to a large extent, thanks to that pact that some so lightly denigrate. There are more and more people who believe that it would be better to eliminate it and make another one, or not have one at all, without considering the consequences that this would have. There are also people who think about the Constitution ignoring its cracks, and as happens every December 6th, some people try to make a party about it, ignoring this risk.

Ten years ago, on the same day and almost at the same time that a criminal murdered policewoman Vanessa Lage in my city, I swore allegiance to the Flag as a civilian at the Naval School in Marín. In that oath I committed myself on my conscience and honor to uphold the Constitution as the fundamental norm of the State, and I remain faithful to that oath.

I think that today is a day to thank our parents and grandparents (and many others who are no longer with us) for having the greatness to seal that pact of coexistence that closed the wounds of a savage civil war, until the left decided to reopen them within the framework of an ideological project to undermine our Constitution and initiate a change of regime through the back door. A project that is still in force today and that has caused alarming cracks in our reservoir. Cracks that demonstrate its deficiencies but that should not be used to insert demolition charges into them, but rather for us to actively mobilize to repair and improve it.

Today, of course, is a day to celebrate the Constitution together with our Armed Forces, our Police and our Civil Guard, who have made so many sacrifices in the defence of the constitutional order, especially against the ravages of ETA terrorism.

There is no reason to attend any celebration with the politicians who are destroying this pact, violating our fundamental rights for decades, degrading our institutions, threatening national unity and seriously damaging our rule of law. An action that has not only been the work of extremists (such as separatism and the extreme left), but also the direct responsibility of the two major parties, PSOE and PP.

There is nothing to celebrate with those who have been doing everything possible to turn our Constitution into a piece of wet paper, indecently dividing up the judiciary, turning the crime of abortion (the act of killing an innocent and defenceless human being) into a "right", establishing ideological indoctrination in schools, violating the linguistic rights of Spanish speakers in several regions of Spain, destroying equality between men and women through laws poisoned by fanatic gender feminism, feeding secessionist nationalisms with constant concessions to the point of turning Spain into 17 mini-states, and granting criminal privileges to the allies of the Sánchez government through an openly unconstitutional amnesty law.

Today is a good day to vindicate and defend our Constitution, but without hiding the need to resolve the defects that have appeared over the years, just as happens in any of our homes. Today is also a good day to vindicate everything that our dam is unable to protect, due to its construction defects and the cracks that have appeared over time. We have before us the challenge of saving this valuable dam and improving it, a challenge that requires greatness like that shown by our parents and grandparents when building it.

---

Image: Grok.

Dams deserve a place of honour among the most formidable engineering works ever built by human beings.

[19536,10398
641,693,11114
post-57981","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-we-said-yesterday","category-spain","tag-partido-popular","tag-psoe","tag-spanish-constitution
"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":
["GET
