They will be used there <strong>to train the first Polish F-35A pilots from January 2025<\/strong> on the US base. Here you can see the video published by the ANG showing the landing of these fighters:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/an7kUuSaIuY?si=y3RbMYaCLZutCDcP\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In 2000, the former conservative Polish government signed <strong>a contract to purchase 32 F-35A Lightning II fighters for the Polish Air Force<\/strong>. The Polish F-35s are of the conventional takeoff and landing variant for dry land runways, the same version used by the United States Air Force (USAF). <strong>The F-35s will replace two Soviet fighter models still in service in Poland:<\/strong> the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 and the Sukhoi Su-22.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54227595827_b1ee4018d3_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once delivered to Poland, <strong>the F-35s will be deployed at two air bases: \u0141ask<\/strong> (in central Poland, where F-16 fighters currently operate) <strong>and \u015awidwin<\/strong> (in the north-west of the country, from where Polish Su-22s currently fly).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54227595837_9ee11e308d_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On August 28, on the occasion of \u015awi\u0119to Lotnictwa Polskiego (Polish Aviation Day), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2024\/08\/28\/lockheed-martin-presents-the-f-35a-husarz-the-new-winged-hussar-of-the-polish-air-force\/\">Lockheed Martin held the presentation of the first of these fighters, nicknamed \"Husarz\"<\/a>, <strong>in honor of the famous Polish winged hussars<\/strong> - the best heavy cavalry of their time - who liberated the city of Vienna at the Battle of Kahlenberg in 1683, with a sweeping charge led by King John III Sobieski against the Ottoman forces.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54228507466_a31c7b56f9_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>These aircraft will be the Polish Air Force's first fifth-generation fighters,<\/strong> the first to be stealthy (i.e. with a very low radar signature that will allow them to go unnoticed), and <strong>they are also the first Polish military aircraft to carry the traditional Polish checkerboard pattern in a low-visibility version<\/strong>, i.e. in two shades of grey instead of the white and red colours of the Polish national flag, something that has sparked some debate in that country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two days before Christmas, Poland has received two big gifts with wings: its first fifth-generation fighter aircraft.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[19536,11546],"tags":[4523,23391,7072,10370,14051,10431],"class_list":["post-58202","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-we-said-yesterday","category-military-aviation","tag-arkansas","tag-ebbing-angb","tag-lockheed-martin-f-35-lightning-ii","tag-poland","tag-polish-air-force","tag-united-states"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/58202"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=58202"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/58202\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=58202"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=58202"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=58202"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
