{"id":58392,"date":"2025-01-15T23:46:36","date_gmt":"2025-01-15T22:46:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/?p=58392"},"modified":"2026-01-15T02:44:34","modified_gmt":"2026-01-15T01:44:34","slug":"a-train-with-pandur-i-armoured-vehicles-the-austrian-relative-of-the-spanish-bmr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2025\/01\/15\/a-train-with-pandur-i-armoured-vehicles-the-austrian-relative-of-the-spanish-bmr\/","title":{"rendered":"A train with Pandur I armoured vehicles, the Austrian relative of the Spanish BMR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the 1980s, the Austrian company Steyr-Daimler-Puch designed a 6x6 armoured vehicle, the Pandur I, for the Austrian Army.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2023\/04\/27\/lkov-valuk-the-slovenian-relative-of-the-spanish-bmr-delivered-to-the-ukrainian-army\/\">LKOV Valuk: the Slovenian 'relative' of the Spanish BMR delivered to the Ukrainian Army<\/a><\/rel><br \/>\n<rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2021\/10\/23\/the-spanish-army-railway-company-serving-spain-on-the-railways\/\">The Spanish Army Railway Company: serving Spain on the railways<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n<p><strong>This vehicle was based on the Spanish BMR<\/strong> under an agreement between the Austrian company Steyr and the Spanish company Santa B\u00e1rbara. <strong>The collaboration between the two companies also gave rise to the ASCOD Pizarro infantry fighting vehicle<\/strong> (known as the Ulan in Austria) in the 1990s. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2023\/04\/27\/lkov-valuk-the-slovenian-relative-of-the-spanish-bmr-delivered-to-the-ukrainian-army\/\">The Pandur I has also been manufactured under license in Slovenia under the name LKOV Valuk<\/a>, being very similar to the Austrian model.<\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54268913819_5d537098a7_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">A Pandur I of the Austrian Army in Kosovo (Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmlv.gv.at\/cms\/artikel.php?ID=5710\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bundesministerium f\u00fcr Landesverteidigung<\/a>).<\/div>\n<p><strong>The Pandur I has been in service with the Austrian Army since 1996,<\/strong> having received a total of 78 units: 68 of the personnel carrier version, 4 of the ambulance version and 6 of the ISTAR reconnaissance and observation version. <strong>A few years ago, the Austrian Army acquired 325 Pandur I EVO, an improved version of the Pandur I,<\/strong> equipped with more armour.
