As you may remember, two years ago <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@AventurasEntresierras\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aventuras Entresierras<\/a> showed us <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2023\/02\/28\/good-tips-about-what-things-you-should-include-in-your-backpack-to-make-a-bivouac\/\">how to equip a backpack for a bivouac<\/a>, but there are other alternatives. One of them is <strong>the smock, a garment that began to be used in World War II<\/strong> and which takes its name from the famous <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Denison_smock\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Denison Smock<\/a> used by British paratroopers and commandos, which was <strong>a garment derived from the Knochensack used by the paratroopers (Fallschirmj\u00e4ger) of the German Luftwaffe from 1936 onwards<\/strong>. Both jackets are characterised by their large pockets.<\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54295486106_e5b5f2e408_o.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">British paratroopers in Normandy after D-Day, wearing their famous Denison Smocks (Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.keymilitary.com\/article\/timeless-design\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">keymilitary.com<\/a>).<\/div>\n<p><strong>If I'm talking about the smock now it's because of a challenge launched by two members of the Comando Entresierras.<\/strong> The first to face it was Juan Pelegr\u00edn, author of the Youtube channel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@Elinquietonaturaleza\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">El inquieto naturaleza<\/a>, who a month ago published a video showing the things he wears in his smock (both videos are in Spanish, you can activate automatic English subtitles in the bottom bar of the player):<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"RETO CHAQUETA SMOCK ,  es una alternativa a la mochila?.\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iyN2oUP5FXk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>A few days ago, another member of the Comando, Manolo Caracortada, showed his smock in a video posted on his channel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@AventurasEntresierras\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aventuras Entresierras<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Smock, el KIT- Chaqueta de Supervivencia\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JixdhN-r2t0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>If you want to know who won by a landslide in terms of carried objects<\/strong>, just look at these two images in which we see what each one was able to pull out of their smock:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54294604447_633edf37cb_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54294604462_63fd991fa8_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Thank goodness Juan chose a big table...<\/strong> Personally, I like light backpacks for carrying things. They have the great advantage that you can take the weight off at any time and so wearing a coat is more comfortable. However, <strong>I have a coat similar to the smock<\/strong>, bought many years ago at Coronel Tapiocca (in their shop in Vigo, which closed some time ago), which is one of the most useful items in my wardrobe.
