Unfortunately, there were no survivors.<\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54297649621_0641278162_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">A CRJ-701 like the one that crashed in Washington DC (Photo: dhliebowitz).<\/div>\n<p><strong>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/12thAviationBattalion\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">12th Aviation Battalion<\/a> is known as the \"Gold Tops\"<\/strong>, to differentiate itself from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2024\/08\/20\/the-problems-of-the-vh-92a-patriot-the-new-us-marine-one-presidential-helicopter\/\">the \"White Tops\" of the Marines' HMX-1<\/a> (which are in charge of presidential transport). <b>The Battalion has five subordinate units:<\/b> HHC (Headquarters) Company, Alpha Company \"Vipers\", Bravo Company \"Black Sheep\", Charlie Company \"Con Air\", and Delta Company \"Dragons\".<\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54298192130_12a43655c8_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">An event by Bravo Company of the 12th Helicopter Battalion in January 2020. Priest).<\/div>\n<p>There are conflicting reports about the model of the helicopter that crashed, but according to <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TomNovelly\/status\/1884827508031250588\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Thomas Novelly<\/a> of Military.com, <strong>the US Department of Defense has confirmed that it was a UH-60.<\/strong> The UH-60s in this unit carry the typical dark olive-green color scheme of US Army helicopters. The reason is that <strong>the VH-60Ms do much of their business in Washington DC<\/strong>, west of the river. The Potomac River is an authorized corridor for low helicopter flights in a city with many restricted airspaces. The co-pilot had over 500 hours of flight time, while the instructor pilot supervising the co-pilot had around 1,000 hours of flight time.
