{"id":58829,"date":"2025-02-25T23:40:59","date_gmt":"2025-02-25T22:40:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/?p=58829"},"modified":"2025-03-12T23:35:32","modified_gmt":"2025-03-12T22:35:32","slug":"the-impressive-climb-to-two-remote-mountain-huts-in-the-dolomite-alps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2025\/02\/25\/the-impressive-climb-to-two-remote-mountain-huts-in-the-dolomite-alps\/","title":{"rendered":"The impressive climb to two remote mountain huts in the Dolomite Alps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Dolomite Alps in northeastern Italy are one of the most beautiful and impressive mountain ranges in all of Europe.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2024\/12\/23\/the-beautiful-landscapes-of-the-dolomite-alps-seen-from-a-birds-eye-view-in-three-minutes\/\">The beautiful landscapes of the Dolomite Alps seen from a bird's eye view in three minutes<\/a><\/rel><br \/>\n<rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2024\/07\/17\/the-surprising-capanna-regina-margherita-the-highest-mountain-refuge-in-europe\/\">The surprising Capanna Regina Margherita, the highest mountain refuge in Europe<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n<p>Italian mountaineers have been dominating these impressive mountains for many years, even fighting and building shelters there. <strong>One of the toughest and most frightening battle fronts of the World War I took place in this area<\/strong>, and buildings built by the Italian Army at that time can still be seen today.<\/p>\n<p>A few days ago, the YouTube channel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@ZenHikingSwitzerland\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Zen Hiking Switzerland<\/a> published a beautiful wordless video with a wonderful soundtrack in which we see a mountaineer making <strong>a hard climb in search of a remote mountain shelter from the World War I: the Bivouac Buffa de Perrero<\/strong>, located 2,760 meters above sea level on a rock face of Monte Cristallo.<\/p>\n<p>As we can see in the video, the mountaineer's first attempt to reach this refuge failed. However, he did reach the <strong>Guido Lorenzi Refuge, 2,932 metres above sea level<\/strong>, on the Cima di Mezzo mountain. This area was the front line of the World War I. As you can see, <strong>both refuges are in very good condition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Finding a Forgotten Refuge Deep in the Dolomites\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/R82LxCO8XbY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Here we can see some screenshots from the video, which includes beautiful shots recorded with a drone, like this one we see here, recorded from <strong>the Ivano Dibona via ferrata, which crosses the Monte Cristalino massif<\/strong>. These mountain images included in the video are pure visual poetry.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54351178918_4b9947897f_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The route has steel cables<\/strong> so that climbers can safely venture along it using their carabiners. In addition, there are also <strong>suspension bridges<\/strong> like the one we see here. If you don't have vertigo, you can see it from the climber's point of view in the video.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54350064897_371fa267e1_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Here we see the Guido Lorenzi Refuge, with a large Cross commemorating the fallen soldiers in the fighting that took place there<\/strong> during the First World War. The current refuge was built in 1959.
