The training ship \"Juan Sebasti\u00e1n de Elcano\" of the Spanish Navy has arrived in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay.<\/p>\n

This stopover is one of those planned for the 17th Training Cruise<\/strong> of this ship, which set sail from Cadiz on January 11 and which has the participation of HRH Princess of Asturias Leonor de Borb\u00f3n<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As is customary on the \"Elcano\" trips abroad, a swearing-in ceremony for civilian personnel<\/strong> was held in Montevideo with Spanish residents in Uruguay. The participants in this swearing-in ceremony were able to kiss the Spanish flag to seal their commitment to the country in a very special way, since Princess Leonor was the flag bearer at this event<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It so happens that the then Prince of Asturias Felipe de Borb\u00f3n, current King of Spain Felipe VI, was the flag bearer at a flag swearing ceremony in Montevideo in 1987<\/strong>, when he made his training cruise as a midshipman during his training process as an officer of the Spanish Navy at the Naval Military School of Mar\u00edn.<\/p>\n

The swearing-in ceremony in Montevideo was attended by the Spanish Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles<\/strong>, and the Chief of the Defense Staff (JEMAD), Admiral General Teodoro Esteban L\u00f3pez Calder\u00f3n<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
