The Spanish Navy's new S-81 submarine, the first of its class, \"Isaac Peral,\" is the protagonist of a historic journey.<\/p>\n

On March 9, this ship began its first national navigation in Cartagena<\/a>, since entering service on November 30, 2023. The following day, the Spanish Navy published these three photos from the beginning of this historic journey<\/a>, taken in the docks of the Cartagena Arsenal. In the background we can see the six Segura-class minesweepers based in that military port, and two patrol ships (former corvettes) of the \"Descubierta\" class, now retired from service, including the \"Infanta Cristina\" P-77 (click on the photos to enlarge them):<\/p>\n

This journey has taken the S-81 to the coasts of one of the Spanish regions most closely linked to the sea since ancient times: Galicia<\/strong>, where one of the three arsenals of the Spanish naval force is located, in Ferrol<\/strong>, and where the Military Naval School (ENM) is also based, in Mar\u00edn<\/strong>, which trains future Navy officers.<\/p>\n

The \"Isaac Peral\" first stopped in Galicia at the ENM. The S-81 arrived at the Pontevedra Estuary last Thursday<\/a>, arriving at the ENM docks in the afternoon, where the ship remained until Saturday. Miguel Selas Canga<\/a> published this video of the submarine's arrival in Mar\u00edn<\/strong>, in which we see the S-81 passing by the Tambo Island lighthouse and then turning to starboard and entering the ENM inlet, beginning mooring maneuvers at the Torpedo Dock<\/strong>:<\/p>\n
