{"id":59031,"date":"2025-03-20T23:32:37","date_gmt":"2025-03-20T22:32:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/?p=59031"},"modified":"2025-04-02T23:10:02","modified_gmt":"2025-04-02T21:10:02","slug":"vereda-de-la-estrella-a-beautiful-spanish-mountain-route-in-the-sierra-nevada","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2025\/03\/20\/vereda-de-la-estrella-a-beautiful-spanish-mountain-route-in-the-sierra-nevada\/","title":{"rendered":"Vereda de la Estrella, a beautiful Spanish mountain route in the Sierra Nevada"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am Galician, but I have to admit that the city of Granada, in Andalusia, is one of the most beautiful cities in Spain.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2024\/10\/13\/a-march-to-a-spanish-mountain-where-a-united-states-navy-plane-crashed\/\">A march to a Spanish mountain where a United States Navy plane crashed<\/a><\/rel><br \/>\n<rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2023\/10\/01\/the-old-positions-from-the-civil-war-on-mulhacen-the-second-highest-peak-in-spain\/\">The old positions from the Civil War on Mulhac\u00e9n, the second highest peak in Spain<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n<p>Among the many virtues of this beautiful city is <strong>its breathtaking view of the Sierra Nevada mountain range<\/strong>, which includes Mulhac\u00e9n, the highest peak in the Iberian Peninsula at 3,479 meters. <strong>I visited Sierra Nevada 26 years ago and remember it as a stunning and dazzling place<\/strong> (I say this because I was almost dazzled that day by the reflection of sunlight on the snow).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Very fond memories of those lands have come to mind while watching the video published yesterday by<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@AventurasEntresierras\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aventuras Entresierras<\/a>, my favorite YouTube channel (I highly recommend you subscribe), <strong>which covers<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.miteco.gob.es\/es\/parques-nacionales-oapn\/red-parques-nacionales\/parques-nacionales\/sierra-nevada\/guia-visitante\/vereda-estrella.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">La Vereda de la Estrella<\/a>, a route that starts and ends at the Barranco de San Juan, at 1,175 meters above sea level, with a distance of almost 19 kilometers through an old mining area. <strong>Aventuras Entresierras has been showcasing spectacular sites for years, but this one is one of the most beautiful.<\/strong> The route was done in winter, which makes it even more interesting (the video is in Spanish, you can activate automatic English subtitles in the bottom bar of the player):<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Vivac La Estrella, una aventura BAJO CERO\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZIO9ZW1J_0c?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>You can see some screenshots from this video here. We start with <strong>an image of the Vereda de la Estrella<\/strong> that deserved to be in a \"Lord of the Rings\" movie.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54399561551_eff308b633_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The white colossi of the Sierra Nevada.<\/strong> It's one of the most impressive images in the video. <strong>This mountain range has six peaks that exceed 3,000 meters:<\/strong> Mulhac\u00e9n (3,479), Veleta (3,396), Alcazaba (3,369), Cerro los Machos (3,327), Puntal de Vacares (3,144), and Cerro del Caballo (3,013).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54399733024_3a30f88613_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>On this route, mountaineers visit the old La Probadora mine<\/strong>, located 1,437 meters above sea level. It's located in the municipality of G\u00fcejar Sierra. You can see its interior in the video.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54399561576_dd8b2dab97_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Finally, here we see the Aceral refuge<\/strong>, located next to the Aceral ravine and at 1,810 meters above sea level.
