That city is in the south of the province of Pontevedra, <strong>next to the border with Portugal<\/strong>. A border that in this case has water, as it coincides here with <strong>the Mi\u00f1o River<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/5542\/14105328407_6fa579731f_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/5542\/14105328407_2a3ba04d60_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is a city full of curious things. For example, <strong>it has a medieval cathedral with battlements like a castle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/2593\/3914361078_4f69238a9e_4k.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/2593\/3914361078_c1e4bfb990_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Behind that cathedral are <strong>old winding streets where you can take peaceful strolls<\/strong>, both at night and during the day.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/3495\/3913853221_995c92a92b_4k.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/3495\/3913853221_0edb40f6e1_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Next to the city, and within its municipal boundaries, there is <strong>a mountain that I have visited countless times since I was a child<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/2874\/9707518700_432bc8897c_3k.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/2874\/9707518700_41811d0f79_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>On this mountain there are very exotic viewpoints<\/strong>, which seem like something out of a story.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/5579\/15085276946_bec0fb3593_3k.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/5579\/15085276946_8582b1cb15_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>And there are some amazing views too<\/strong>, although sometimes in summer they are somewhat obscured by smoke from the forest fires in Portugal.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/7700\/26367488533_6b5614cb16_3k.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/7700\/26367488533_121a4c7d0f_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>It's an ideal mountain for walking<\/strong>, for resting, for running, for eating (there are stone tables for this), and for playing, if you're a child (or if you're not but still like to play).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/5318\/14202054456_86f23af4bd_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/5318\/14202054456_964990a498_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Those of you who are familiar with the area and those of you who have been reading this blog for years already know that <strong>I'm referring to Tuy (Tui, in Galician) and Mount Aloya (Aloia, in Galician)<\/strong>, places I have associated with very fond memories.
