The Islamist terrorists attacked seven Christian communities in Bokkos County: Ruwi, Mangor, Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai. On April 2, 21 Christians were killed, and on April 3, another 40 were killed, in attacks that have displaced more than 1,000 Christians from their homes. In addition, <strong>383 houses were destroyed by terrorists<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>On April 8, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arise.tv\/what-happened-in-bokkos-was-genocide-attempt-at-land-grabbing-says-plateau-governor-muftwang\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang characterized the crimes as follows: <em>\"I would say it unapologetically, <strong>what happened in the last two weeks in Bokkos is genocide<\/strong>. I say it unreservedly. No one has given me any reason to believe that what happened was politically motivated, and if there is any such suggestion I\u2019ll be glad to receive the evidence of such because <strong>these were unprovoked attacks on innocent people, vulnerable people.<\/strong>\"<\/em><\/p>\n<p><big>51 Christians murdered in a new attack in Zike<\/big><\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.christiandaily.com\/news\/more-than-50-christians-slain-in-plateau-state-nigeria\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Christian Daily International reported a new attack with 51 Christians killed in Plateau, again at the hands of Fulani Islamist terrorists. <strong>This time the attack targeted Zike village<\/strong> in Kwall District, located in Bassa County. <em>\"According to a Kwall community leader, Wakili Tongwe, <strong>the attackers invaded the village in the early hours of Monday and shot sporadically at residents<\/strong> who were scampering for safety after hearing gunshots,\"<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelstv.com\/2025\/04\/14\/40-people-killed-in-fresh-plateau-attack\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Channels Television<\/a> said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p><big>In 2024, 3,300 Christians were killed for their faith in Nigeria.<\/big><\/p>\n<p>According to a report published in January of this year by the NGO Open Doors, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2025\/01\/15\/the-50-countries-that-most-persecute-christians-in-2025-and-the-role-of-communism-and-islamism\/\">Nigeria ranks seventh among the 50 countries where Christians suffer the most persecution<\/a>. This evangelical Christian organization <a href=\"https:\/\/international.la-croix.com\/world\/open-doors-ngo-reports-380-million-christians-persecuted-worldwide\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">pointed out<\/a> that <strong>of the 4,476 Christians killed for their faith in the world in 2024, 3,300 were killed in Nigeria<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><big>The EU's 2024 condemnation resolution and criticism from European bishops<\/big><\/p>\n<p>On 8 February 2024, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/doceo\/document\/TA-9-2024-0072_EN.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the European Parliament condemned violence against Christians in Nigeria<\/a>, noting that <strong>52,000 Christians have been killed in Nigeria since 2009, and that 18,000 churches and 2,200 Christian schools have been destroyed. <strong>The resolution singled out Islamist terrorist groups<\/strong> such as Boko Haram and the Islamic State in West Africa Province, stating that <em>they <em>\"target both Christians and Muslims in north-east Nigeria\"<\/em>, noting that 34,000 Muslims have been killed during the aforementioned period. <strong>The European Parliament stated that <em>\"the role of climate change<\/strong>, competition for scarce resources and the disappearance of effective mediation schemes\"<\/em> in worsening the conflict.<\/p>\n<p>On 9 February 2024, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.comece.eu\/european-parliaments-resolution-on-attacks-against-christians-in-nigeria-comece-highlights-religious-dimension\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Commission of the Bishops' Conferences of the European Union (COMECE) criticized that European Parliament resolution<\/a>, noting that it <em>\"<strong>downplays the religious dimension of the conflict<\/strong>\"<\/em>, adding: <em>\"environmental and economic pressures cannot sufficiently explain <strong>the ferocity of the attacks and their coordinated and systematic patterns committed by Fulani Islamist terrorists<\/strong>.\"<\/em><\/p>\n<p>---<\/p>\n<p><small>Photo: Marco Longari\/AFP.
