In the event of their forced expropriation, the competent ecclesiastical authority must first be heard."

In 1982, in its judgment 66/1982, the Constitutional Court stated that "this Agreement between the Spanish State and the Holy See has the rank of an international treaty". In case anyone doesn't know, this is what Article 96 of the Spanish Constitution says about international treaties:

International treaties validly concluded, once officially published in Spain, will become part of the internal legal system. Their provisions may only be repealed, modified, or suspended in the manner provided for in the treaties themselves or in accordance with the general rules of international law.

Thus, Sánchez intends to violate an international treaty with the excuse of "re-signifying" the Valley of the Fallen. Considering the recent scandals affecting the socialist government and its habit of appropriating all institutions, it is reasonable to assume that they will want to turn this basilica into a socialist theme park, as sectarian as RTVE, controlled by the Sánchez government and a constant spectacle of manipulation in favor of the left.

Obviously, there are many people who won't care about any of this, just as they haven't cared about Sánchez's other abuses of the Constitution and our laws. The question is: To what extent are some people willing to put their ideological sectarianism above everything else, even human life?

Two months ago we learned that the Sánchez government refuses to fund a drug against childhood leukemia, citing budgetary reasons for the National Health System. In other words, the government is not providing money to buy a drug that can save the lives of sick children, and is leaving the matter in the hands of the regional governments, while boasting about dedicating our taxes to healthcare and education. This is the height of cynicism.

However, today we know that <a href="https://www.eldebate.com/religion/20250416/plan-resignificar-valle-caidos-no-contempla-restaurar-cruz_288795.html"" rel="noopener" target="_blank">the government plans to spend more than 30 million euros to "resignify" the aforementioned Catholic basilica, that is, to desecrate it and turn it into a socialist theme park. How many units of that medicine for children with leukemia could be bought with those more than 30 million? I hope that this government answers for this before a court, sitting in the dock, because this criminal form of governing must not go unpunished, no matter how much they believe they have the right to violate the laws, the Constitution and the international treaties signed by Spain.

---

Photo: Efe.

Having a corrupt, sectarian government obsessed with pitting Spaniards against each other is having terrible consequences for Spain.

[19536,10712
2721,11462,11853
post-59304","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-we-said-yesterday","category-religion-eng","tag-pedro-sanchez-castejon","tag-spain","tag-valley-of-the-fallen
