This morning, Vatican City, the smallest country in the world, hosted the funeral of the recently deceased Pope Francis.<\/p>\n

Many Catholics hope that the new Pope will be neither conservative nor progressive<\/a><\/rel>
\nTrump puts himself in evidence and reveals one of the aspects of his betrayal of Ukraine<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n

This day was a day for the world to say goodbye to the pontiff who led the Catholic Church for 12 years,<\/strong> an institution that today once again demonstrated its importance in society and the world, with the presence of a multitude of international leaders at this funeral. For the people of Rome, it was an opportunity to say goodbye to their bishop.<\/strong> You can see some of the photos of this moment published by Vatican News<\/a> here.<\/p>\n

Among the international leaders attending the funeral were the King and Queen of Spain<\/strong>, who led the Spanish delegation, with the notable absence being the president of the government, Pedro S\u00e1nchez. As a Spaniard, I thank Their Majesties for representing my nation at this event<\/strong>, which Spain could not be absent from, as it is a predominantly Catholic country and has historically been a great defender of the Church.<\/p>\n

A small \"miracle\" has occurred at this farewell<\/strong> (and I put it in quotes because I'm not speaking in strict terms). Before the funeral, the presidents of the United States and Ukraine had an impromptu meeting in St. Peter's Basilica. Zelensky announced this today at 1:18 p.m. CET<\/a>, in a message on his Twitter account in which he showed this photo:<\/p>\n

In that message, the Ukrainian president commented<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

Good meeting. We discussed a lot one on one. Hoping for results on everything we covered.<\/strong> Protecting lives of our people. Full and unconditional ceasefire. Reliable and lasting peace that will prevent another war from breaking out. Very symbolic meeting that has potential to become historic, if we achieve joint results.<\/strong> Thank you @POTUS.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Let us remember that Trump and Zelensky had not met for two months<\/a>, when the US president scolded the Ukrainian president at the White House for not wanting to give in to his demands. Of course, Zelensky is behaving like a statesman and as a great leader should<\/strong>, something that cannot be said of Trump. Today, at least, the House of God has served to host this photo between a Protestant (Trump) and a Jew (Zelensky), in a cordial atmosphere.<\/p>\n

Following that meeting, Trump posted a lengthy post on Truth Social<\/a> complaining about a New York Times article claiming that \"Trump plays into Putin\u2019s hands\"<\/a>, which is rigorously true, based on the facts we've seen over the past two months. In his message, in addition to repeating things he has said before, there has been a change in Trump's discourse: a clear recognition that Putin does not want peace.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is what Trump states at the end of his message: \"there was no reason for Putin to be shooting missiles into civilian areas<\/strong>, cities and towns, over the last few days. It makes me think that maybe he doesn\u2019t want to stop the war, he\u2019s just tapping me along, and has to be dealt with differently<\/strong>, through \u201cBanking\u201d or \u201cSecondary Sanctions?\u201d Too many people are dying!!!\"<\/em><\/p>\n

It was about time Trump acknowledged the obvious.<\/strong> I am glad that today's meeting in St. Peter's Basilica had the effect of opening the eyes of the US president, something that, I repeat, seems to me to be a small \"miracle.\" God can do all things.<\/strong> I hope Trump lets himself be guided by Him and not by his ego or by Russian propaganda, as he has been doing up to now in relation to Ukraine, a country that he has been heroically defending against invasion for years and that deserves the support of the West,<\/strong> including the United States.<\/p>\n
