More than 24 hours after the blackout began, <strong>S\u00e1nchez has yet to explain the causes<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eldebate.com\/espana\/20250429\/sanchez-carga-contra-operadores-privados-nucleares-niega-descartar-ciberataque_292359.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">he did not want to rule out a cyberattack and has pointed the finger at \"private operators\"<\/a>, which already points to part of <strong>the government's strategy to avoid its responsibility in this serious event<\/strong>, unprecedented in Spain, with one of its favorite techniques: looking for <strong>scapegoats to blame<\/strong> for what happened.<\/p>\n<p><big>Red El\u00e9ctrica de Espa\u00f1a has ruled out a cyberattack<\/big><\/p>\n<p>Despite S\u00e1nchez's statements, <strong>this morning Red El\u00e9ctrica Espa\u00f1ola<\/strong>, which owns the entire transmission grid in Spain, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ondacero.es\/noticias\/sociedad\/red-electrica-descarta-incidente-ciberseguridad-como-motivo-apagon-espana_202504296810a5f8319ae75da4bb5a5d.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">has ruled out the possibility of a cyberattack<\/a>: <em>\"since yesterday, <strong>we have had the collaboration of Incibe [National Cybersecurity Institute], the CNI [National Intelligence Center], and this morning we have been able to conclude that there has indeed been no type of intrusion<\/strong> in the control systems of Red El\u00e9ctrica that could have caused the incident\"<\/em>, said the director of Services for Operation of Red El\u00e9ctrica de Espa\u00f1a, Eduardo Prieto.<\/p>\n<p><big>An electricity supply managed by a government-controlled company<\/big><\/p>\n<p>Given this, <strong>why doesn't S\u00e1nchez rule out a cyberattack? Because the other possibility, a failure, would leave the government in a very bad position<\/strong>. In fact, although the Prime Minister points to \"private operators\" and states that he will hold them accountable, <strong>the management of the electricity supply in Spain depends on Red El\u00e9ctrica de Espa\u00f1a<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/sepi.es\/es\/sectores\/red-electrica\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">in which the State holds a 20% stake through SEPI<\/a> (State Industrial Participation Company).<\/p>\n<p>In fact, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bolsamania.com\/noticias\/empresas\/gobierno-coloca-exministra-beatriz-corredor-presidenta-de-red-electrica--7333598.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the president of Red El\u00e9ctrica de Espa\u00f1a was appointed by the S\u00e1nchez government in February 2020<\/a>. For the position, <strong>S\u00e1nchez chose Beatriz Corredor, a member of the PSOE executive<\/strong> at the time of her appointment as president of Red El\u00e9ctrica and who was Minister of Housing under Zapatero's socialist government. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2024\/03\/28\/spain-the-private-estate-of-the-socialists-the-list-of-institutions-that-they-have-colonized\/\">Red El\u00e9ctrica is one of the many companies colonized by the PSOE<\/a>, which has become a veritable placement agency for socialist leaders in state-controlled institutions and companies.<\/p>\n<p><big>Red El\u00e9ctrica was warned that this could happen but ruled it out<\/big><\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that <strong>Red El\u00e9ctrica was warned that this could happen<\/strong>. In February 2025, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/OperadorNuclear\/status\/1910321233498890330\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ernst & Young audited that company<\/a>, warning of the following in the midst of the process of closing nuclear power plants by decision of the S\u00e1nchez government:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\"Greater difficulty in system operation: reduction in firm power and balancing capacities and <strong>greater risk of operational incidents that could affect supply<\/strong>. This leads to potential reputational impacts.\"<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In light of the controversy surrounding this report, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RedElectricaREE\/status\/1910005438080254103\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Red El\u00e9ctrica published a message on Twitter on April 9 stating: <em>\"<strong>There is no risk of a blackout. Red El\u00e9ctrica guarantees the supply<\/strong>.\"<\/em><\/p>\n<p><big>S\u00e1nchez is trying to buy time until the blackout is no longer talked about<\/big><\/p>\n<p>Finally, the blackout came and Red El\u00e9ctrica failed to deliver on its promise, but instead of assigning responsibility, <strong>S\u00e1nchez is now trying to buy time until the matter is no longer discussed<\/strong>, promising an \"independent\" (but government-controlled) commission of inquiry <strong>and pointing the finger at \"private operators\" so that responsibility for Red El\u00e9ctrica does not fall on the government<\/strong>, which was the one that put a socialist activist in charge of the company. Obviously, <strong>this serves to avoid problems for S\u00e1nchez but not to prevent the blackout from happening again<\/strong>, a possibility that can no longer be ruled out after what happened yesterday and the government's lack of explanations in this regard.<\/p>\n<p><big>S\u00e1nchez insists on denying reality and says that nuclear power plants \u201care a problem\u201d<\/big><\/p>\n<p>In fact, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elmundo.es\/espana\/2025\/04\/29\/6810b5a4fc6c831e478b4577.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">S\u00e1nchez has again criticized nuclear power plants today, saying that \"they are a problem\"<\/a>, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.miteco.gob.es\/es\/energia\/nuclear\/centrales\/mundo.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">this blackout has not been suffered by France, which has 56 nuclear power plants, nor by South Korea (25), nor by the US (93) nor by Canada (19)<\/a>, <strong>but by Spain, which has 7 and is in the process of closing<\/strong>. In fact, the lack of response from the few Spanish nuclear power plants to yesterday's blackout is due to the government itself. In February, El Peri\u00f3dico de la Energ\u00eda reported that <a href=\"https:\/\/elperiodicodelaenergia.com\/la-nueva-tasa-enresa-deja-en-fuera-de-juego-a-todas-las-centrales-nucleares-espanolas\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the taxes imposed by the S\u00e1nchez government were leaving all Spanish nuclear power plants out of the game<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eldebate.com\/economia\/20250419\/espana-ensaya-apagon-nuclear-plena-semana-santa-mitad-reactores-desconectados_289377.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">on April 19, El Debate published<\/a>: <em>\"<strong>Spain disconnects most of its nuclear power plants during Easter due to the \"disproportionate\" tax burden<\/strong>\"<\/em>. Because of this, according to the media, <em>\"nuclear power is barely accounting for 7% of generation these days, when the usual rate is around 20%.\"<\/em><\/p>\n<p><big>France, with 56 nuclear power plants, had to rescue Spain after the blackout<\/big><\/p>\n<p>This became known nine days before the blackout. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.infobae.com\/espana\/2025\/04\/28\/francia-envia-electricidad-a-espana-para-mitigar-el-apagon-historico-en-la-peninsula-iberica\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Yesterday, France began sending electricity to Spain to mitigate the blackout<\/a>, thanks to which the northern regions of Spain (except Galicia) were the first to recover. <strong>S\u00e1nchez says that nuclear power plants \"are a problem\" after France, the country with the most nuclear power plants in Europe, got us out of the mess.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So, we have the essential ingredient for the blackout to happen again: <strong>a government that puts its ideology above reality<\/strong> and refuses to address Spain's electricity supply problems with a minimum of sanity, <strong>obsessed with closing nuclear power plants even after the serious events of yesterday<\/strong>.
