{"id":59479,"date":"2025-05-04T21:03:35","date_gmt":"2025-05-04T19:03:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/?p=59479"},"modified":"2026-05-04T02:01:18","modified_gmt":"2026-05-04T00:01:18","slug":"oscar-puente-praises-doxing-a-practice-that-incibe-encourages-to-report-to-the-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2025\/05\/04\/oscar-puente-praises-doxing-a-practice-that-incibe-encourages-to-report-to-the-police\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00d3scar Puente praises doxing, a practice that INCIBE encourages to report to the Police"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pedro S\u00e1nchez's government has been displaying authoritarian attitudes for years, and these are increasingly widespread, including on the internet.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2025\/01\/22\/pedro-sanchez-attacks-the-right-to-privacy-and-compares-using-a-social-network-with-buying-a-gun\/\">Pedro S\u00e1nchez attacks the right to privacy and compares using a social network with buying a gun<\/a><\/rel><br \/>\n<rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2024\/06\/16\/sanchez-his-mafia-like-exercise-of-power-and-the-silence-of-a-large-part-of-journalism\/\">S\u00e1nchez, his mafia-like exercise of power and the silence of a large part of journalism<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n<p>In recent hours, and while his Ministry faces <a href=\"https:\/\/www.antena3.com\/programas\/espejo-publico\/noticias\/koldo-abalos-tenian-equipo-6-prostitutas-brasilenas-agasajar-contratistas-ministerio_2025031367d2dbd06e95850001fa4a4f.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a serious scandal for hiring prostitutes<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europapress.es\/nacional\/noticia-ex-abalos-le-desvincula-piso-plaza-espana-contratacion-empresas-publicas-20250227111755.html#google_vignette\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">placing an ex-partner of the former minister in public companies<\/a> in which she was earning a salary without working, <strong>the Minister of Transport, \u00d3scar Puente, has chosen the most crude and toxic way to conduct a distraction campaign<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><big>Puente praises an anonymous user who reveals other people's personal data<\/big><\/p>\n<p>This Saturday, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/oscar_puente_\/status\/1918695527400505637\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the minister shared<\/a> <strong>a post from an anonymous leftist account that is dedicated to revealing names and other personal data of anonymous users<\/strong>, without their consent, a practice that some have been carrying out for years on that social network and that has <strong>the purpose of exposing them to possible reprisals<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In a message published this Sunday, after one of the users who saw their personal data exposed closed their account for fear of retaliation, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/oscar_puente_\/status\/1918943674680979523\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Puente justified what happened by stating<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><strong>He closed the account because he wanted to. No one censored anything. If your opinions embarrass you, the problem isn't a lack of freedom<\/strong>, but rather your opinions, which you know the vast majority of society rejects. <strong>Cowardly, whiny far-right.<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><big>INCIBE points out that doxing is a cyberbullying practice<\/big><\/p>\n<p><strong>It's scandalous that a minister would publish a message like this from an institutional account<\/strong> (Puente's profile displays the gray logo that Twitter assigns to public officials). But even more so is the fact of seeing <strong>a minister cheering on doxihg<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.incibe.es\/node\/485640\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a practice that the National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE) defines as follows<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Doxing is the practice of <strong>revealing a person's personal information online without their consent<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.incibe.es\/ciudadania\/formacion\/infografias\/doxing\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">In an infographic on \"doxing\"<\/a>, <strong>INCIBE encourages people to report this practice to law enforcement agencies<\/strong>. This official institution shows what this practice entails and poses the following question: <em>\"<strong>What could happen to you if someone doxes you?<\/strong>\"<\/em> The answer is summarized in five points:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\"It damages your online reputation.\"<\/li>\n<li>\"<strong>Harassment or extortion<\/strong>.\"<\/li>\n<li>\"Identity theft.\"<\/li>\n<li>\"It exposes you to fraud and other <strong>online threats<\/strong>.\"<\/li>\n<li>\"<strong>It endangers your physical safety.<\/strong>\"<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.incibe.es\/menores\/blog\/actualizate-nuevas-formas-del-ciberacoso\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">In 2020, INCIBE warned against \"doxing\" in an article on \"new forms of cyberbullying\"<\/a>, pointing it out as a practice that is usually <strong>experienced by minors who suffer extortion as a result<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><big>INCIBE depends on the government of which Puente is a part<\/big><\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that <strong>INCIBE is a public entity dependent on the Ministry of Digital Transformation<\/strong>, that is, the same government to which \u00d3scar Puente belongs.<\/p>\n<p><big>UN Women and BBVA have also warned against these practices.<\/big><\/p>\n<p>INCIBE is not the only institution that has warned against this practice. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unwomen.org\/es\/articles\/preguntas-frecuentes\/preguntas-frecuentes-troleo-ciberacoso-doxing-y-otras-formas-de-violencia-contra-las-mujeres-en-la-era-digital\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">In June 2024, UN Women cited \"doxing\" as a form of \"violence against women\"<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>From the private sector, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbva.es\/finanzas-vistazo\/ciberseguridad\/ataques-informaticos\/que-es-el-doxing.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">one of Spain's leading financial institutions, BBVA, has warned against \"doxing\" by stating:<\/a> <\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><strong>The purpose of this fraudulent practice may be cyberbullying, extortion, or coercion.<\/strong> In addition, criminals may also use the information to access victims' social media profiles and impersonate them.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><big>In January, S\u00e1nchez announced that he wanted to eliminate the right to anonymity on the Internet<\/big><\/p>\n<p><strong>It is scandalous to see a minister cheering on these practices, but we were warned.<\/strong> As you may recall, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2025\/01\/22\/pedro-sanchez-attacks-the-right-to-privacy-and-compares-using-a-social-network-with-buying-a-gun\/\">in January Pedro S\u00e1nchez announced his intention to end the right to anonymity on social media<\/a>, justifying this serious attack on the right to privacy by <strong>comparing buying a gun with using a social network to express an opinion or disseminate information<\/strong>.
