Yesterday, historian Marcelo Gullo<\/strong> published a message on Twitter<\/a> stating the following:<\/p>\n \"With Vanguardia Espa\u00f1ola, a culturally Catholic left emerges in Spain<\/strong>, a Hispanic left, an anti-imperialist left, that is, a national left. The youth of VE are the hope of Spain.\"<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n I confess my astonishment at the statement I highlight in bold. I have been warning about that far-left group called \"Vanguardia Espa\u00f1ola\" for two years.<\/a> On its website it includes a manifesto<\/a> that says:<\/p>\n \"We also feel like heirs<\/strong> to the best of the Spanish labor and union movement, to the most sensible socialism and communism<\/strong> in our history.\"<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n On its Twitter account<\/a> in March 2023, Vanguardia Espa\u00f1ola published a message praising the dictator and genocidal Stalin<\/strong>, expressing its \"respect and admiration for his rule and his work\"<\/em>.<\/p>\n In September 2023, Vanguardia Espa\u00f1ola praised the communist dictatorship of North Korea<\/a>, saying it is \"an example of resistance, sovereignty, insubordination and singular patriotism\"<\/em><\/strong>. Let us remember that that dictatorship is the country that persecutes Christians the most in the world<\/a>, according to a report published in January by the Christian NGO Open Doors.<\/p>\n In August 2023, Vanguardia Espa\u00f1ola praised the Cuban communist dictatorship<\/a>, stating that it is \"an example of resistance and political sovereignty\"<\/em><\/strong>. Let us remember that this dictatorship has been governing the island of Cuba without free elections, with a single-party system and violating the most basic human rights since 1959.<\/p>\n What I was missing was someone having the nerve to define this totalitarian garbage as \"culturally Catholic.\"<\/strong><\/p>\n It should be remembered, in case anyone is unaware of this fact, that the Catholic Church has firmly condemned communism<\/strong>, as Pope Pius XI stated in the encyclical \"Divini Redemptoris\"<\/a>:<\/p>\n \"The doctrine of modern Communism, which is often concealed under the most seductive trappings, is in substance based on the principles of dialectical and historical materialism<\/strong> previously advocated by Marx, of which the theoricians of bolshevism claim to possess the only genuine interpretation. (...) Let us remember that Communism was, along with Nazism, the worst and most lethal totalitarianism of the 20th century<\/strong>. This totalitarian movement established more than fifty dictatorships<\/a> (some of which persist today and under which 20% of humanity lives, without the most basic rights and freedoms) and killed more than 100 million people<\/a>.
