After all, the Spanish prime minister is a socialist, most of his ministers are socialist (there are also communist ministers), and his policies are genuinely socialist.

The search has yielded a curious result: the word "socialismo" has not been mentioned on the @ppopular channel for over a year, specifically since May 10, 2024. That was the only mention of the word on that channel last year: the previous mention was from November 2023, the year in which the word "socialismo" was used on that channel seven times. Seven mentions in 2023, one in 2024, and none in 2025. A very significant evolution.

Something similar happens with the adjective. On @ppopular there are only two mentions of the word "socialista" (socialist) in 2025, and the most recent is from January 19. In 2024, the PP channel used the word "socialista" 13 times and in 2022 8 times. Spain has a socialist government but it seems that the PP does not dare to call it that, something shocking to say the least.

Things change with the third most voted party in Spain, although a downward trend is noticeable (perhaps because the previous two years were election years). Vox has four mentions of socialism in 2025, there were 40 in 2024 and 19 in 2023. In turn, Vox's national Twitter channel has 35 mentions of the word "socialist" in 2025, 65 mentions in 2024 and 52 in 2024. In total, 63 mentions of Vox as socialism compared to only 8 of the PP, and 152 mentions of Vox to the word "socialista" compared to 23 of the PP in the same period.

It is significant to see that the PP is increasingly talking about "Sanchismo" and less and less about "socialismo", in an attempt to personalize its criticism of Pedro Sánchez while avoiding criticism of his ruinous ideological prescriptions. It should be noted that Sánchez is seriously damaging Spain not only because of his personal flaws, but also because of his ideological approaches, which defend an expansion of the State at the expense of society, violating fundamental rights and eroding democratic institutions. When the PP avoids calling socialism by its name, the message it is sending is that it wants to defeat Sánchez but saving his prescriptions. It is the same thing that the PP did in the past, and we are suffering the results of that grave error today.

---

Photo: La Moncloa.
