These systems are operated by different <strong>Field Artillery Groups (GACA)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54639881186_6911b54c82_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54639881186_6911b54c82_o.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto;\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">One of the old M-109A2 self-propelled howitzers of the Tercio de Armada (Photo: Armada Espa\u00f1ola).<\/div>\n<p>In turn, the <strong>Landing Artillery Group (GAD) of the Tercio de Armada (TEAR)<\/strong> had a self-propelled artillery battery with 6 M-109A2 (which in 2020 were replaced by 6 M-109A5 temporarily provided by the Army) and 6 M-992 FAASV tracked ammunition vehicles. <strong>All this material is already many years old<\/strong> and the need to replace it has been there for some time.<\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54640225080_b996feb602_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54640225080_e1eba22a59_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto;\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">The KNDS RCH-155 wheeled self-propelled howitzer (Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/knds.com\/en\/products\/systems\/rch-155\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">KNDS<\/a>).<\/div>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/industria.gob.es\/_layouts\/15\/HttpHandlerParticipacionPublicaAnexos.ashx?k=78571\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Ministry of Industry document we saw yesterday (see PDF)<\/a>, <strong>two subprograms for the acquisition of self-propelled artillery systems are mentioned: one on wheels and one on tracks<\/strong>. These systems would be destined for both the aforementioned GACA of the Army and the GAD of the Marine Corps.<\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54640135948_6d473f53bf_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54640135948_45abd31384_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto;\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">The General Dynamics Land Systems Piranha III AAC 10x10 wheeled self-propelled howitzer (Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gdels.com\/en\/products\/wheeled-vehicles\/piranha\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GDELS<\/a>).<\/div>\n<p>The first subprogram cited in the document is the <strong>Wheeled Self-Propelled Artillery (Wheeled Self-Propelled Artillery).<\/strong> It appears on page 15 of the document, which contemplates the acquisition of <em>\"ground platforms that include self-propelled howitzers, ammunition vehicles, recovery vehicles, as well as initial logistics support, training, simulation, and infrastructure.\"<\/em> That page specifically indicates that it is planned to acquire <strong>86 wheeled self-propelled howitzers, 86 ammunition vehicles, 14 recovery vehicles, 7 specific maintenance vehicles<\/strong> (if required), in addition to maintenance equipment. The document adds: <em>\"These systems will be designed, developed, and produced <strong>for specifically military purposes and will be used by the Armed Forces (Army)<\/strong>.\"<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54639902451_6f5c688609_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54639902451_6f5c688609_o.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto;\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">The Caesar 8x8 wheeled self-propelled howitzer on a Tatra chassis (Photo: NEXTER).<\/div>\n<p><strong>This subprogram lacks a reference to command vehicles<\/strong>, which are of great importance in the field of self-propelled artillery. Furthermore, <strong>this is the first time that Spain plans to acquire wheeled SPH vehicles<\/strong>. There are currently several models on the market, both in 8x8 and 10x10 configurations. One of its operators is the Polish Army (Photo: Armed Forces of the Republic of Korea)).<\/div>\n<p>In this case, the planned purchases include <strong>128 self-propelled tracked howitzers, 128 ammunition vehicles, 21 recovery vehicles, 48 \u200b\u200bcommand vehicles for the Army and 11 for the Navy<\/strong>, seven specific maintenance vehicles (if required), and various maintenance materials.
