Today, artificial intelligence (AI) is being used for more and more things<\/strong>, including generating all kinds of images, often used on social media. The problem is that the vast majority of AI applications still don't know how to correctly create national emblems<\/strong>. Today was an example of this. This morning at 8:00 AM CET, the Spanish Ministry of Defense posted this message on Twitter<\/a> (an automated copy can be seen here<\/a>):<\/p>\n

We can see here the surreal Spanish flag that appears in the message:<\/p>\n

The National Coat of Arms is poorly made<\/strong> and its proportions and the space it occupies on the flag are also incorrect. In 2020, I already explained here the guidelines that national symbols should follow<\/a>. Specifically, the official model of the Coat of Arms of Spain is established by Royal Decree 2964\/1981<\/a>. The appearance of the Flag of Spain with the coat of arms is as follows:<\/p>\n

It's shocking that a ministry would take national symbols lightly<\/strong> on one of its communication channels, publishing an image in which the coat of arms looks more like a parody of the Spanish coat of arms. If they don't have anyone to create a proper design for them, the only option is to purchase images<\/strong> (they are available online).
