Taking advantage of the fact that these helicopters had been modernized between 2015 and 2018, <strong>six AB-212+ \"Gato\" were transferred to the Spanish Army's Airmobile Forces (FAMET)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53558382434_59013e1538_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53558382434_48d7c700c4_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">One of the AB-212+ of the Army's BHELMA VI, based in the Canary Islands (Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ejercitodetierra\/46420454194\/in\/album-72157678792297698\/\">Ej\u00e9rcito de Tierra<\/a>).<\/div>\n<p>Taking advantage of the fact that they are twin-engine helicopters, ideal for operation in coastal areas, <strong>FAMET assigned the AB-212+ \"Gato\" to the Sixth Maneuver Helicopter Battalion (BHELMA VI)<\/strong>, based in Los Rodeos, Tenerife, a unit that already operated AB-212 helicopters but had not been modernized. Their tails have also incorporated the St. Andrew's Cross, used by the FAMET (National Air Force), the Air Force, and the Civil Guard, but not by the Navy.
