Instead, they have the cynicism to give moral lessons and even to make statements that, coming from them, deserve the most sinister interpretations. Let's look at an example.

Yesterday, in a speech at the control session in the Congress of Deputies, the socialist María Jesús Montero, first vice president of the government, stated the following:

"The Popular Party, and Mr. Feijóo in particular, is afraid of not making it to the end of the term alive."

Here you can hear his words, spoken during one of those replies to the opposition in which the government never answers what is asked, instead devoting itself to demagoguery and attacking its rivals, in an increasingly crude way of mocking Parliament, which has the function of overseeing the government's actions:

🎥 Montero, a Ester Muñoz: "Miedo es el que tiene el PP, y especialmente el señor Feijóo, a no llegar vivo al final de la legislatura [...] Lo que le ocurre al PP es que no tiene rumbo, ni encuentra el rumbo ni lo va a encontrar porque no tiene proyecto para este país" pic.twitter.com/zLT3BOrhjg

— Cadena SER (@La_SER) September 17, 2025

One could argue that Montero was speaking figuratively, but considering the kind of person the first vice president is, this sounds more like sinister thoughts out loud. At the end of the day, we are talking about a government that last Sunday instigated acts of violence in which 22 police officers were injured, simply to create a smokescreen to cover up the socialist corruption scandals. A government allied with the heirs of ETA, anti-democrats who do not condemn the 853 murders of that terrorist group, not even the murders of 22 children and babies.

After that intervention, Calvo Sotelo became a trending topic on Twitter in Spain for hours. Obviously, the trend was not about Leopoldo Calvo Sotelo, the short-lived centrist prime minister between 1981 and 1982, but about his great-uncle the right-wing deputy José Calvo Sotelo, assassinated by members of the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) on July 13, 1936, a crime for which the socialists have never apologized and which was the trigger for the Spanish Civil War, which broke out four days later.

In truth, the PSOE of today is increasingly similar to the PSOE of 1936, a party with an authoritarian and violent tendency that did everything possible to generate tension and destroy coexistence among Spaniards, hoping to remain in power. What we were missing now is to see a socialist minister, with a smile on her face, issuing a warning to the leader of the opposition about the possibility that he may not survive the end of this term. Something that brings to mind - that faculty that the left exercises selectively - the threat uttered by the socialist deputy Ángel Galarza against José Calvo Sotelo on July 1, 1936, twelve days before he was kidnapped and murdered: "Thinking of Your Lordship, I find everything justified, even the attack that deprives you of your life".

Obviously, with this statement the PSOE takes responsibility for what happens to Feijóo from now on. We must not forget that in 2015 a left-wing extremist punched Mariano Rajoy in Pontevedra, an attack celebrated by far-leftists on social media, including some who are now staunch defenders of Sánchez's government. The Spanish left, in its extremist drift, seems to forget that violence is like a boomerang, because it ends up turning against the one who promotes it: an example is the end that the civil war that the socialists encouraged with that assassination in 1936 had in 1939. It seems that they have already forgotten, or perhaps they hope that this time they will end up winning the civil conflict that they are fueling, acting like totalitarians of the worst kind.

---

Photo: PSOE.

When sending certain messages, it’s not just the content that matters, but also the source, because that also allows for their interpretation.

[10398
325,9578,11911,693,10796
post-60847","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-spain","tag-alberto-nunez-feijoo","tag-jose-calvo-sotelo","tag-maria-jesus-montero-cuadrado","tag-psoe","tag-socialism
"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":
["GET
