{"id":60878,"date":"2025-09-21T20:52:45","date_gmt":"2025-09-21T18:52:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/?p=60878"},"modified":"2025-09-27T23:34:38","modified_gmt":"2025-09-27T21:34:38","slug":"the-training-of-the-spanish-marine-infantry-with-mv-22b-osprey-aircraft-in-the-united-states","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2025\/09\/21\/the-training-of-the-spanish-marine-infantry-with-mv-22b-osprey-aircraft-in-the-united-states\/","title":{"rendered":"The training of the Spanish Marine Infantry with MV-22B Osprey aircraft in the United States"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week we saw here <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2025\/09\/13\/a-landing-of-the-spanish-marine-infantry-on-the-shores-of-the-united-states\/\">the landing of the Spanish Marine Corps in the United States<\/a> on the occasion of the Unitas 2025 exercise.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2025\/09\/13\/a-landing-of-the-spanish-marine-infantry-on-the-shores-of-the-united-states\/\">A landing of the Spanish Marine Infantry on the shores of the United States<\/a><\/rel><br \/>\n<rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2025\/07\/06\/the-spanish-marine-infantry-will-receive-34-new-amphibious-combat-vehicles\/\">The Spanish Marine Infantry will receive 34 new amphibious combat vehicles<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n<p>This exercise is being carried out within the framework of <strong>the third phase of deployment of the Expeditionary Combat Group (GCE) \"D\u00e9dalo\" 25<\/strong>, with the participation of the amphibious assault ship \"Galicia\" L-51 and the frigates \"Canarias\" F-86 and \"Almirante Juan de Borb\u00f3n\" F-102, with 1,230 Spanish soldiers on board, including <strong>350 Marines from the Second Landing Battalion of the Tercio de Armada (TEAR)<\/strong>, as well as two Sikorsky SH-60F transport helicopters from the 5th Squadron in the L-51, and an SH-60B anti-submarine helicopter from the 10th Squadron in the F-86.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54801681237_cd22e35010_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54801681237_5de3fa27a7_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>During this deployment in the United States, <strong>TEAR soldiers have had the opportunity to train with the US Marines' MV-22B Osprey aircraft,<\/strong> models with tiltrotors that allow them to take off like helicopters and fly like airplanes. <strong>In these images, two MV-22B units can be seen: the 8651<\/strong> (serial number 168651, above these lines) <strong>and the 8224<\/strong> (serial number 168224, below).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54801681252_5635c50790_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54801681252_b9ae22fb79_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On September 14, the U.S. Armed Forces multimedia site DVIDShub.net published two sets of photos from this training: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dvidshub.net\/image\/9313410\/unitas-2025-spanish-marines-conduct-security-drills-and-night-raid\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a set of daytime images<\/a> showing TEAR members boarding and disembarking the aircraft, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dvidshub.net\/image\/9313387\/unitas-2025-spanish-marines-conduct-airfield-raid-night\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a set of night vision goggle photos<\/a> taken during an assault operation during an urban area exercise at night. This Friday, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/EMADmde\/status\/1969115274944119053\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Spanish Defense Staff (EMAD) also published four photos of this training<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54802527496_f01df0a851_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54802527496_5d152357bf_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>This exercise took place on September 13 at Marine Corps Outlying Field (MCOLF) Atlantic<\/strong> on the North Carolina coast. It is a training range used by MCAS Cherry Point Marine Air Base for helicopter, tiltrotor, and aggressor operations.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54802527921_190db0568e_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54802527921_2968b21ac1_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The history of MCOLF dates back to World War II.<\/strong> It was established as an airfield on December 4, 1942. This site covers an area of \u200b\u200b594 hectares. The MCOLF has three old runways and an aircraft apron. A curiosity on that apron <a href=\"https:\/\/theaviationist.com\/2024\/01\/19\/chinese-fighter-jets-mock-ups\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">there are two authentic Polish MiG-21 fighters<\/a>, which are painted as Chinese J-7 fighters, <strong>and a full-scale mock-up of a Chinese J-20 stealth fighter<\/strong>, a way to make exercises more realistic.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54802775934_b7b39642fb_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54802775934_10c298e8b3_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The MV-22Bs used in this exercise belong to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 261 (VMM-261) \"Raging Bulls,\"<\/strong> a unit created in 1951 and based at MCAS New River, North Carolina, about 100 kilometers west of the training ground.
