Today we have a new example of this. At 2:25 a.m. CET, Elon Musk wrote on Twitter:

"Grokipedia.com version 0.1 is now live. Version 1.0 will be 10X better, but even at 0.1 it’s better than Wikipedia imo.".

Grokipedia was developed by xAI, a company owned by Elon Musk. Unlike Wikipedia, Grokipedia, currently only available in English, was created by artificial intelligence. In fact, its name refers to Grok, the artificial intelligence of X (formerly Twitter). Currently, Grokipedia contains 885,279 articles.

I won't go into the question here of whether Grokipedia is better than Wikipedia or vice versa, but I've just found that both exhibit very similar biases when talking about dictators, although less pronounced than Wikipedia's. Nine years ago, I exposed Wikipedia's bias on this issue here, pointing out its tendency to whitewash socialist and communist dictators. Let's see what Grokipedia says about non-communist dictators in its first paragraph:

Francisco Franco: "was a Spanish general and head of state who commanded the Nationalist forces to victory in the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939) against the Republican government, thereafter ruling Spain as dictator for 36 years until his death."

Antonio de Oliveira Salazar: "was a Portuguese economist and statesman who served as Prime Minister from 1932 until incapacity in 1968, wielding effective dictatorial authority over Portugal for nearly four decades."

Benito Mussolini: "was an Italian politician, journalist, and founder of fascism who served as Prime Minister of Italy from 1922 to 1943 and, from 1925, as Duce of the National Fascist Party, establishing a one-party dictatorship."

Adolf Hitler: "was an Austrian-born German politician who served as the dictator of Germany from 1933 to 1945, first as Chancellor and then as Führer und Reichskanzler after consolidating absolute power."

The information we just read is correct. The four politicians mentioned were dictators, meaning they exercised power without free elections, under single-party regimes where political pluralism did not exist. Now let's see what happens when we search for communist dictators in Grokipedia:

Joseph Stalin: The word "dictator" does not appear even once in your very long entry, which defines him as "a Georgian Bolshevik revolutionary who became the absolute leader of the Soviet Union" and acknowledges that he established "a totalitarian regime". The word "dictatorship" to refer to his regime does not appear until the 96th paragraph of the text.

Mao Tse Tung: The word "dictator" doesn't appear even once in his lengthy entry, which defines him as "a Chinese revolutionary, Marxist theorist, and politician who founded the People's Republic of China (PRC) and served as its paramount leader from 1949 until his death." The word "dictatorship" doesn't appear until the 18th paragraph of the text.

Vladimir Lenin: The word "dictator" does not appear even once in your lengthy entry, which defines him as "a Russian Marxist revolutionary, theorist, and politician who led the Bolshevik Party in overthrowing the Provisional Government during the October Revolution of 1917, establishing the world's first communist state." Yet the first paragraph states that "Lenin centralized power in a one-party dictatorship."

Fidel Castro: The word "dictator" doesn't appear even once in your very long entry. Nor is his regime referred to as a "dictatorship" even once.

Wojciech Jaruzelski: The word "dictator" doesn't appear even once in your very long entry. Nor is his regime referred to as a "dictatorship" even once.

Nicolae Ceaușescu: defines him as "a Romanian communist politician who led the country as General Secretary of the Romanian Communist Party from 1965 until his overthrow in 1989." To find the first reference to Ceaușescu as a dictator, go to paragraph 96 of the text.

Erich Honecker: defines him as "a German communist politician who led the German Democratic Republic (GDR) as General Secretary of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) from 3 May 1971 until 18 October 1989 and as Chairman of the State Council from 29 October 1976 to 1989." In the third sentence it states: "His rule enforced a one-party dictatorship with extensive repression."

Enver Hoxha: He is defined as "an Albanian communist revolutionary and dictator." He is the only communist dictator whom Grokipedia describes as such in its first sentence, as it does with the four non-communist dictators mentioned above.

There are people who believe that Wikipedia or artificial intelligence are infallible sources that we should not
