In the face of certain violations, woke feminism falls silent. After years of preaching sisterhood and chanting slogans like "sister, I believe you" or "if one of us is attacked, we all respond," when the rapist has a certain background, the left abandons its feminism and gets distracted by anything else.

In recent years we have seen this behavior far too often. Now it is happening again in Navarre. On Friday night, a young woman was found semi-conscious under a tree in Pamplona after being gang-raped during a university party. Coincidentally, four North Africans have been arrested as alleged perpetrators of the crime, and three of them have an outstanding deportation order for having entered Spain illegally. According to El Mundo, similarities have been found between the biological remains found on the girl and those of the alleged sexual assailants, who in addition to raping her, would have stolen her mobile phone and other belongings.

We have long been reading and hearing messages from the political and media left insisting that talking about sexual crimes committed by immigrants was to favor the "far right", so the appropriate thing to do was to underestimate the problem and even cover it up, resorting to statistical tricks such as saying that most rapes are committed by Spanish men, when the reality is that 43.3% of the perpetrators of group sexual crimes committed in Spain are of foreign origin, with Moroccans topping the list at 9.5%. Likewise, 36.29% of those convicted of sexual offenses are foreigners, despite the fact that they make up 12.66% of the population residing in Spain.

Of course, as I have been emphasizing for years, statistics are an indicator of social reality, not an individual portrait. The fact that there is a higher incidence of sexual offenses committed by foreigners should not lead us to demonize all foreigners, not even those of the nationalities with the highest incidence of such crimes. Among the foreigners in Spain, including those from North Africa, there are good people who deserve respect, especially when they earn an honest living, abide by our rules of coexistence, and try to integrate into our society.

What this statistical reality does demonstrate are the negative effects of an irresponsible immigration policy, with which the left has sought cheap labor and a future pool of new voters, despite the obvious dangers of massively bringing in people from cultural backgrounds where women are undervalued and discriminated against. These dangers are even greater if a large part of this immigrant population, especially those arriving illegally, is made up of young men with very low levels of education and culture.

Although some try to deny it, all countries have the right and the duty to regulate immigration according to their needs and social reality. This is a right and a duty that especially binds politicians, who are the ones who make the laws. Instead, most Spanish parties and politicians have played with fire on the issue of immigration, perhaps reassured by the comfort of living in affluent neighborhoods where the effects of this irresponsible policy are not as noticeable as in neighborhoods where people of more modest means live.

Those paying the price for this irresponsible policy are many women and many Spaniards with limited resources, who now find they can no longer walk the streets safely in the neighborhoods where they grew up. It's high time these politicians were held accountable for the damage they've caused, and in a democracy, the easiest way to achieve that is by removing them from office in the next elections.

---

Photo: Pixabay.

Sexual assault is a very serious act and should always be condemned, regardless of who the perpetrator or perpetrators of that crime may be.

[10398
10385,10577,16572,5542,11425
post-61561","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-spain","tag-feminism","tag-immigration","tag-navarre","tag-pamplona","tag-rape
