This defensive network, popularly known as the \"Strait Wall,\" <strong>was built by sappers from the 4th Fortifications Regiment of the Spanish Army<\/strong>, along with civilian workers and between 10,000 and 15,000 Republican prisoners from the then very recent Spanish Civil War, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sanroque.es\/content\/el-pr-ximo-domingo-novedosa-ruta-senderista-por-la-muralla-del-estrecho\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">San Roque City Council<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, the excellent YouTube channel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@AventurasEntresierras\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aventuras Entresierras<\/a> (which I recommend you subscribe to) <strong>published an interesting video visiting one of the bunkers of that defensive network<\/strong>, specifically a machine gun position built at the confluence of the Guadiario and Hozgarganta rivers, in the province of C\u00e1diz, in order to defend a nearby bridge (the video is in Spanish, you can activate the automatic English subtitles in the bottom bar of the player):<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Kit supervivencia EDC en lata dentro de un BUNKER \" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-WArLyy41wg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>You can see some screenshots from this video here. <strong>Here we see the Hozgarganta River suspension bridge<\/strong>, on the way to the bunker.
