One of the main duties of a ruler in a democratic country is to be accountable to the citizens for his actions.<\/p>\n
This duty is embodied in legal and ethical obligations regarding transparency. Unfortunately, in Spain we have a government that is breaking records for opacity<\/a>, reaching extremes more typical of authoritarian regimes than democratic countries. An example of this was the recent visit of the Prime Minister of Morocco, Aziz Akhannouch, to the Moncloa Palace<\/strong>, where he held a meeting with the President of the Spanish Government, the socialist Pedro S\u00e1nchez, who has for years displayed an attitude of shameful subservience towards the North African country.<\/p>\n The Spanish government has indicated that the result of this visit is the signing of fourteen cooperation agreements<\/a>. From La Moncloa, they state that with this meeting, \"Spain and Morocco consolidate a more modern, comprehensive, and cross-cutting relationship\"<\/em>. Apparently, the socialists must confuse modernity with opacity and secrecy<\/strong>, since, as the website DefensaySeguridad.es rightly pointed out, the meeting was held behind closed doors, without press access and without explanations<\/a>. This reflects a government that shuns media scrutiny, despite the media's duty to hold political power accountable in democratic countries.<\/p>\n Pedro S\u00e1nchez's attitude towards Morocco only serves to reinforce the idea that he is the victim of blackmail<\/strong>, whether due to personal matters known to Morocco that the socialist leader does not want revealed (this possibility is reinforced with each gesture of servility from S\u00e1nchez towards Morocco), or due to the evident blackmail that the Islamic country uses with the use of immigration as a weapon<\/strong>, not forgetting its control over a large part of the mosques in Spain.<\/p>\n Morocco is taking full advantage of the current weakness of the S\u00e1nchez government<\/strong> and, above all, of its propensity to concede whatever is necessary to those on whom it depends in some way to remain in power, whether because it needs their parliamentary support (as is the case with the far left and separatists) or because they know things that would bring about its downfall. The secrecy we witnessed a few days ago is the prelude to something worse: a situation in which Spain acts as a vassal of Morocco<\/strong>, due to a government for whom the most important thing is not the interests of Spain, but the personal interests of Pedro S\u00e1nchez.<\/p>\n ---<\/p>\n
