I have been denouncing the abuses of politicians in the European Union for years, just as I denounce those that are done in my country.<\/p>\n
However, as a European and as a defender of freedom and democracy, just as I reject the abuses of politicians, I also reject, and with even greater force, the criminals who want a Europe subjected to the dictatorship of Vladimir Putin<\/strong>. A terrorist regime that is now promoting a campaign on social media to call for the dissolution of the European Union.<\/p>\n A few days ago, in response to a fine from the European Union, Twitter owner Elon Musk wrote<\/a>: \"The EU should be abolished<\/strong> and sovereignty returned to individual countries, so that governments can better represent their people.\"<\/em> This message has been widely shared on Twitter, resonating with many people who have legitimate reasons to feel dissatisfied<\/strong> with the direction the EU leadership has taken. This discontent is being manipulated in a highly incoherent way by some, starting with Musk himself.<\/p>\n I have denounced here the European Commission's attempts at censorship<\/a> against that social network, but I confess to being surprised by the reaction of its owner. Elon Musk has not once called for the dissolution of the Chinese communist dictatorship<\/strong>, a country that prohibits access to Twitter<\/a>, a measure far more radical than any undertaken by the EU. In fact, Musk never criticizes that communist dictatorship<\/strong>, simply because he has significant business interests in that country<\/a>. It's an incredibly hypocritical attitude from someone who pretends to be a great defender of free speech<\/a>.<\/p>\n Significantly, Musk's message calling for the abolition of the EU<\/strong> was quickly endorsed by Dmitry Medvedev, one of the Kremlin's heavyweights<\/a>. He currently holds the position of Vice Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation and is one of the most well-known propagandists for Putin's dictatorship on that social network<\/strong>, which he uses to spread lies and threats against Ukraine and the countries that support it in the face of the Russian invasion.<\/p>\n The following day, Aleksandr Dugin, one of the most sinister Russian propagandists<\/strong>, joined that campaign with a message calling for the abolition of the EU in several languages<\/a>. Readers of Counting Stars will remember who this guy is, because three years ago I published an article pointing out that Dugin is a fanatic who has proposed \"destroying Catholicism,\" called for murder, and praised communist terrorist groups<\/a> like the Red Brigades and the Red Army Faction, in addition to participating in events alongside Islamist terrorists from Hamas and Hezbollah<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Musk is throwing a tantrum over the fine imposed by the EU, but Medvedev and Dugin are two enemies of the West who want a divided and weak Europe<\/strong>, so that Putin's dictatorship can more easily impose its plans on the old continent. As I have already pointed out here, the Kremlin not only uses this strategy of division and weakening against the EU:<\/strong> it has been supporting separatist movements in Western countries<\/a>, including Spain<\/a>.<\/p>\n Putin's dictatorship not only wants to abolish the EU: it wants to eliminate NATO and weaken any nation that opposes its plans<\/strong>, and break the military alliances that would force it to confront all of Europe if an EU or NATO member state is attacked by Russia. Its propaganda machine has spent years promoting extremist movements that align with these plans. Now it wants to capitalize on discontent with Brussels' policies to pit Europeans against each other and cut off our aid to Ukraine<\/strong>, so that the Russian invaders can continue committing all kinds of crimes against the Ukrainian people with complete impunity.<\/strong><\/p>\n If I ever harbored any doubts about whether dissolving the EU would be wise, seeing the propagandists of a terrorist regime broadcasting these messages makes it abundantly clear what we Europeans must do<\/strong>. We would be making a grave mistake if we followed the advice of the enemies of the West and dissolved a community of nations that, with all its flaws, has helped maintain 80 years of peace in Europe<\/strong>. I want an EU that respects the national sovereignty of its member states, that does not promote abusive policies, that has limited power (just as I demand for political power in my own country), and that is transparent.<\/p>\n I want to reform the EU, not abolish it<\/strong>, just as I support reforms in my country to solve our problems, not dissolve the country as some charlatans, who are receiving support from the Kremlin, intend. If the enemies of the West intend to divide Europe, that is precisely what we must not do<\/strong>, because once they manage to divide us, the next step will be to invade us militarily or use their puppets to turn us into vassal states of Moscow.
