Obviously, <strong>the US Army is not considering retiring its entire Apache fleet<\/strong>, but it can be said that this plan marks the beginning of the AH-64's decline in the United States.<\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54982399724_5fe6e7b4d1_o.jpg?s=eyJpIjo1NDk4MjM5OTcyNCwiZSI6MTc2NTY2ODE2MywicyI6IjdhYjRkNzIxMThjNTAwMDYwMDEyNmE0ZjY5OGZjZGU1YTIwYjdmNWQiLCJ2IjoxfQ\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54982399724_10c3256e23_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">An AH-64E from the 1-3 Attack Battalion, 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, U.S. Army, in flight at the Grafenwoehr training area, Germany, on October 2, 2025 (Photo: U.S. Army).<\/div>\n<p>Paradoxically, while the Apache is beginning to see the end of its service life in its home country, <strong>this attack helicopter is experiencing a new dawn in Europe<\/strong>, a moment also explained by the influence of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on the rearmament process of NATO countries. <strong>Currently, the only European operators of the Apache are Greece and the United Kingdom.<\/strong> The Greek Army has 28 units of the AH-64A and AH-64D variants, while the British Army already has 50 AH-64Es (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forcesnews.com\/technology\/aircraft\/british-army-receives-latest-generation-apache-e-model-helicopters-united\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">their deliveries were completed in March<\/a>) and the Royal Netherlands Air Force has 30 AH-64Es.<\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54982448865_be60a48e9f_o.jpg?s=eyJpIjo1NDk4MjQ0ODg2NSwiZSI6MTc2NTY2Nzc3NiwicyI6IjBkYWNjZmEyYjFmZjJkZTI4MTI5MmNjMDg5OWIwODljMzEwMjljZmEiLCJ2IjoxfQ\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54982448865_5c7f96bfef_b.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">A Polish Army officer observes an AH-64D in flight during a demonstration in Drawsko, Poland, on August 28, 2025 (Photo: U.S. Army).<\/div>\n<p>Soon there will be a much larger force of Apaches in Europe. <a href=\"https:\/\/polska-zbrojna.pl\/home\/articleshow\/39546?t=Apache-dla-Polski\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">In May 2023, Poland announced the acquisition of 96 AH-64E Apaches<\/a> as part of its major rearmament process in response to the Russian threat. <a href=\"https:\/\/polska-zbrojna.pl\/home\/articleshow\/42231?t=Umowa-na-Apache-podpisana\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The contract was signed in August 2024<\/a>, for a total of $10 billion. In addition, <strong>Poland announced that it would receive eight AH-64D helicopters on lease from the US Army<\/strong>, until the AH-64E deliveries are completed between 2028 and 2032.<\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54982399784_a66af81d00_o.jpg?s=eyJpIjo1NDk4MjM5OTc4NCwiZSI6MTc2NTY2ODIzMiwicyI6Ijk2N2FjN2Q3OTJmNTM2NDA4MGY4MDQxMTA0ZTNiNDFlNDA2ODkyMzMiLCJ2IjoxfQ\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54982399784_a142dc9c8f_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">A U.S. Army AH-64E at Katterbach airfield, Germany, on October 14, 2025 (Photo: U.S. Army).<\/div>\n<p><strong>With this purchase, Poland will become the largest user of the Apache after the United States.<\/strong> The reason the Central European country is investing in this attack helicopter is largely due to its location and geography. <strong>Poland shares a 210 km border with Russia<\/strong>, specifically with the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad, <strong>and a 418 km border with Belarus<\/strong>, whose dictatorship is effectively a Kremlin puppet. Between this Russian exclave and Belarus lies the Suwalki Corridor, one of the most likely points of entry for a Russian invasion, which would isolate the Baltic states. <strong>This area of \u200b\u200bEurope is dominated by flat landscapes ideal for an armored force: it is the perfect hunting ground for an Apache<\/strong>, with or without drones.<\/p>\n<p>---<\/p>\n<p><small>Main photo: U.S. Army.
