Tolkien described impressive places.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2024\/10\/23\/the-lament-for-boromir-a-beautiful-poem-by-tolkien-to-a-warrior-fallen-in-combat\/\">The 'Lament for Boromir', a beautiful poem by Tolkien to a warrior fallen in combat<\/a><\/rel><br \/>\n<rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2018\/02\/10\/the-old-walking-song-a-beautiful-theme-by-tolkien-ensemble-so-as-not-to-lose-your-way\/\">'The Old Walking Song': a beautiful theme by Tolkien Ensemble so as not to lose your way<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n<p>When I read \"The Lord of the Rings\" books as a teenager, one of the passages that impressed me most regarding locations was the description of <strong>the walled city of Minas Tirith (Tower of Guard), the capital of Gondor<\/strong>, the last great kingdom of the D\u00fanedain, the long-lived, dark-horsed men descended from the ancient inhabitants of the island of N\u00famenor. <strong>Peter Jackson did a magnificent job recreating that white city in his films<\/strong>, although I still personally recommend the books, which are much more detailed and include many things that don't appear in the film version masterfully directed by the New Zealand filmmaker.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54992765742_9f91d688bc_o.jpg?s=eyJpIjo1NDk5Mjc2NTc0MiwiZSI6MTc2NjE1NDM0MywicyI6IjhiMmIxOGM1MjQxMGY5ODI4YzNhMjIyZmM2YzE4OTkyZDE0NWU3YWYiLCJ2IjoxfQ\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54992765742_371d87ef45_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>In Tolkien's work there is a beautiful poem sung by Aragorn about that fortified city<\/strong>. It appears in the second chapter of the first book of \"The Two Towers,\" entitled \"The Riders of Rohan.\" <strong>In that poem, the heir of Isildur recalls his past in that city, four decades before the War of the Ring<\/strong>, when he served in the army of Steward Ecthelion II (father of Denethor) under the name Thorongil (Eagle of the Star). <strong>Although the poem mentions Gondor and not the city, what it primarily describes is Minas Tirith.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54993910554_8556ac8397_o.jpg?s=eyJpIjo1NDk5MzkxMDU1NCwiZSI6MTc2NjE1NDM5MCwicyI6IjhkYzUwMDhlYzhlNDY3MjcxZWRmM2Q3NmRhMjM2ZGYyZjVkYTZlYWIiLCJ2IjoxfQ\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54993910554_be5599bc16_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On March 11, 2003, <strong>the Danish group The Tolkien Ensemble released their album \"At Dawn in Rivendell.\"<\/strong> It's a fabulous album in English, made in collaboration with British actor <strong>Christopher Lee<\/strong>, who knew J.R.R. Tolkien personally and reread his books every year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54993910559_f4a85b2334_o.jpg?s=eyJpIjo1NDk5MzkxMDU1OSwiZSI6MTc2NjE1NDQxOSwicyI6IjkyMWYwNjNmN2U3ZTIzMWVhYmQ5ODdmZjRkNjY0MWU1NWQ5OWY1YTAiLCJ2IjoxfQ\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54993910559_61c3e26a50_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The album contains 20 musical versions of poems by J.R.R. Tolkien.<\/strong> The second of these is the poem sung by Aragorn about Minas Tirith, which appears under the title \"Song of Gondor.\" <strong>The music was composed by Danish musician Caspar Reiff<\/strong>, composer, guitarist, and one of the founders of The Tolkien Ensemble. <strong>Morten Ernst Lassen was the vocalist on this track<\/strong>, as he was on the other tracks on the album sung by Aragorn.
