{"id":62720,"date":"2026-01-04T21:56:03","date_gmt":"2026-01-04T20:56:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/?p=62720"},"modified":"2026-01-11T04:03:21","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T03:03:21","slug":"the-aircraft-used-by-the-united-states-armed-forces-in-the-capture-of-nicolas-maduro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2026\/01\/04\/the-aircraft-used-by-the-united-states-armed-forces-in-the-capture-of-nicolas-maduro\/","title":{"rendered":"The aircraft used by the United States Armed Forces in the capture of Nicol\u00e1s Maduro"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The operation to capture Venezuelan dictator Nicol\u00e1s Maduro has been one of the most complex US military operations in years.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2026\/01\/03\/the-ineffectiveness-of-venezuelas-defenses-what-happened-to-its-f-16-su-30-and-manpads\/\">The ineffectiveness of Venezuela's defenses: what happened to its F-16, Su-30 and MANPADS?<\/a><\/rel><br \/>\n<rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2025\/05\/26\/the-special-operations-helicopters-of-the-united-states-armys-night-stalkers\/\">The special operations helicopters of the United States Army's 'Night Stalkers'<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n<p>This mission, officially called <strong>Operation Absolute Resolve<\/strong>, has involved four branches of the US Armed Forces: <strong>the Army, the Navy, the Marine Corps (USMC) and the Air Force (USAF)<\/strong>, which have contributed various aerial assets to the success of this operation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53964077600_33ef8a5df5_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53964077600_e45d2b2bac_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">A U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor stealth fighter jet (Photo: U.S. Air Force).<\/div>\n<p>Yesterday, <strong>General John Daniel \"Razin\" Caine, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/us-general-reveals-how-america-captured-venezuelas-president-13490105\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">revealed some of the aircraft used<\/a> during the operation, both to open air corridors and to destroy various targets: <strong>F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II<\/strong> stealth fighters, <strong>F\/A-18E\/F Super Hornet<\/strong> naval fighters, <strong>EA-18G Growler<\/strong> electronic warfare aircraft, <strong>E-2D Advanced Hawkeye<\/strong> naval early warning aircraft, and <strong>B-1B Lancer<\/strong> strategic bombers.<\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53197971228_754297e9b2_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53197971228_1c6d7162e3_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">A U.S. Marine Corps F-35B Lightning II stealth fighter jet (Photo: U.S. Marine Corps).<\/div>\n<p><strong>One of the most important aircraft in this operation would have been the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye.<\/strong> This twin-engine turboprop aircraft of the United States Navy is equipped with a Lockheed Martin AN\/APY-9 active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar, capable of detecting targets at a range of 650 kilometers. <strong>It would have alerted the attacking force if Venezuelan fighter jets had taken off to repel the US force.<\/strong> Furthermore, this aircraft is used as an airborne air control platform, playing a fundamental role in coordinating operations.<\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54585538535_5e6dc29e9c_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54585538535_94663ac769_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">A U.S. Navy E-2D Advanced Hawkeye early warning aircraft (Photo: U.S. Air Force).<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2025\/12\/31\/ea-18g-growler-the-us-and-australian-plane-that-fights-in-the-electromagnetic-spectrum\/\">On December 31st, we already saw the EA-18G Growler electronic warfare aircraft here<\/a>. This aircraft would have played a very important role in this operation, since <strong>its electronic systems serve to jam enemy radars, hindering or preventing the detection of the attacking force<\/strong>. They also have AGM-88 HARM missiles designed to destroy enemy radars. <strong>Its work largely explains why the United States suffered no casualties in this operation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55016383565_c1284ef523_c.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55016383565_c1284ef523_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">A U.S. Navy EA-18G Growler aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) on November 24, 2025 (Photo: U.S. Navy).<\/div>\n<p><strong>On January 3, four EA-18G aircraft were recorded taking off from the Roosevelt Roads Naval Station in Ceiba, Puerto Rico<\/strong>, possibly to participate in the operation to capture Nicol\u00e1s Maduro. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@HRPlanespotter\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">HR Planespotter<\/a> has published this video showing their takeoff:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\ud83d\udea8 NOCHE DE ACCI\u00d3N | Growlers activados por tensi\u00f3n con Venezuela\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/D9tJeWmkh9g?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>The USAF's F-22 Raptors and F-35s<\/strong> (likely the Marine Corps' F-35Bs) are also a key component in an operation like this, as <strong>their low radar signature allows them to enter enemy airspace almost undetected<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55022794962_3ef5c5239c_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55022794962_9547abc36f_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">A KC-130J Super Hercules tanker aircraft of the United States Marine Corps (Photo: U.S. Marine Corps).<\/div>\n<p>This afternoon, at 8:00 PM CET, the channel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@HRPlanespotter\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">HR Planespotter<\/a> published another video showing <strong>the return of several USMC F-35Bs<\/strong> (significantly without any identifying symbols or numbers on their tail fins) to the aforementioned Naval Station in Puerto Rico. <strong>The video also shows USMC KC-130J Super Hercules tanker aircraft<\/strong>, which would have provided support to the stealth fighters during this operation.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"AVIONES MILITARES LLEGAN A PUERTO RICO tras la CAPTURA de MADURO \ud83c\uddfb\ud83c\uddea\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/v5ji10EdqCc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>The largest of the aircraft used in this operation is the B-1B Lancer strategic bomber.<\/strong> According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airandspaceforces.com\/app\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Almanac2025_fullissue_V6.pdf\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">USAF Almanac 2025<\/a>, there are currently 46 operational B-1Bs out of the 104 of this type that were built between 1973 and 1988. <strong>They are aircraft with a devastating destructive capacity, but they can also use highly accurate weapons<\/strong>, such as GBU-31 bombs with the JDAM kit, AGM-154 JSOW glide bombs, and AGM-158 JASSM cruise missiles, among many other options.<\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53038893931_7da4a40a15_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/53038893931_6921d872f1_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">Two B-1B Lancer strategic bombers of the United States Air Force (Photo: U.S. Air National Guard ).<\/div>\n<p><strong>One of the aircraft not mentioned by General Caine is the Lockheed Martin RQ-170 Sentinel<\/strong> stealth drone, an unmanned aerial vehicle developed by Skunk Works (Lockheed Martin's secretive division). It is a reconnaissance aircraft with a very low radar signature. One of them was seen yesterday returning to Puerto Rico.
