The objective of this measure is the same as always: to control the narrative while public services fall apart.

The problem this government faces is that it cannot control social media, which has become a major channel of information. This partly explains the digital censorship announced by Sánchez this week. For some time now, this avenue for the free transmission of information and opinions has become a veritable obsession for the socialist leader: Sánchez even went so far as to compare using social media to buying a gun, an outrageous statement that strongly resembles the crude excuses of the dictator Nicolás Maduro for blocking Twitter in Venezuela. However, Sánchez now lacks a parliamentary majority to approve these measures, and because they affect fundamental rights, he cannot regulate them through a royal decree law, which is the formula he has now chosen to govern outside of Congress.

Creating tension to cover up the 47 deaths in the train accidents

Despite this, Sánchez knows that these announcements generate tension and that many leftists are willing to justify anything he proposes, even ideas that threaten freedom of expression and freedom of information. For Sánchez, these announcements are a very useful smokescreen to cover up the 47 train deaths and prevent discussion of the government's responsibility for what happened, a fact that could damage him electorally more than the corruption scandals, since concern about the lack of safety on the railway network affects Spaniards of all ideologies.

Thus, in Spain we have reached the extreme of having a government that uses the threat of censorship to prevent discussion of its role in the deaths of 47 people, simply because the far left, which Sánchez needs to keep his party in power and prevent its disappearance in the next elections, is willing to forget these deaths if the government focuses on censoring the "fascists," which is how a large part of the left labels all Spaniards who do not share their ideological views. This is the same government that warns against "polarization" while simultaneously exploiting it for its own benefit, generating a social conflict that is very useful for making millions of left-wing voters forget such serious events as these accidents.

---

Photo: La Moncloa.

Spain suffers the misfortune of having a weak government, besieged by corruption scandals and with high levels of incompetence.

[10398
26121,26122,12063,10497,26137,693,2721
post-63272","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-spain","tag-adamuz","tag-adamuz-train-accident","tag-censorship","tag-far-left","tag-gelida","tag-psoe","tag-pedro-sanchez-castejon
"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":
["GET
