The Spanish left has been used to having a defensive right wing for many years, which almost always reacts with an inferiority complex.<\/p>\n

A minister in Pedro S\u00e1nchez's government calls for \u201cban Twitter\u201d, like in Russia, Iran and North Korea<\/a><\/rel>
\nThe more than 100 million deaths that communism caused, divided by countries<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n

That has begun to change, but I don't think enough. That's why I'm writing this article, to fully respond to the proposal by the communist minister Sira Rego to ban Twitter in Spain<\/a>, a measure typical of dictatorships, claiming that this forum for free and uncensored debate is \"anti-democratic\":<\/strong> the latest absurdity from the left to demonstrate that George Orwell wasn't wrong to warn against the capacity of totalitarians to lie with absolute shamelessness.<\/strong><\/p>\n

An anti-democrat like Sira Rego doesn't deserve an explanation of why she shouldn't ban a platform for exchanging ideas in a democratic country. Freedom doesn't need justification: it must be defended by fighting those who threaten it.<\/strong> And this includes politicians who try to steamroll over our rights. If there's anything truly anti-democratic, it's totalitarianism, and communism \u2014Sira Rego's repugnant ideology\u2014 is one of its forms.<\/strong> That's why I'm going to present the response that this minister deserves, in the form of eight reasons to ban communist organizations in Spain instead of Twitter:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Communism is a totalitarian movement<\/strong> that aims to undermine democracy by destroying it from within. Twitter not.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Communism has established more than fifty dictatorships in the world.<\/a> Some of them still exist and keep a fifth of humanity under their oppression. Twitter not.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. Communism has killed more than 100 million people<\/a>, committing some of the greatest genocides in human history. Twitter hasn't killed anyone.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  4. Communism perpetrated mass deportations<\/strong>, crimes against humanity that claimed as victims, among others, countless Poles, Lithuanians, Latvians, Estonians, Romanians, Finns, etc. Twitter has not deported anyone.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  5. Communism is the second ideology that has promoted the most terrorist groups<\/a>, second only to jihadism. Terrorist groups such as Shining Path, ETA, the Red Brigades, the Red Army Faction, GRAPO, FARC, the Japanese Red Army, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and many others. Twitter has not promoted any terrorist groups.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  6. Communist dictatorships carried out bloody invasions of other countries:<\/strong> Poland, Mongolia, Ukraine, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Romania, South Korea, Hungary, South Vietnam, Czechoslovakia, Afghanistan, Tibet... Even today, communist China continues to threaten to invade free China (Taiwan). Twitter has not invaded any country.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  7. Communism has plunged entire populations into misery<\/strong>, robbing them of their wealth and violating the right to private property to enrich the communist elite. Twitter not.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  8. Communism has persecuted and continues to persecute millions of Christians<\/a> and members of other religious groups today, simply for not fitting into the schemes of mandatory atheism imposed by communist dictatorships.<\/a> Twitter not.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Twitter is a medium for exchanging ideas, opinions, and information<\/strong>, something characteristic of free societies and democratic countries. If anything should be excluded from democracies, it is any totalitarian organization<\/strong>, because its raison d'\u00eatre is to destroy democracy, and this applies to Nazi groups as well as communist ones, like the Communist Party of Spain, to which Sira Rego belongs.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Let us recall that on 19 September 2019 the European Parliament condemned the crimes of Nazism and Communism<\/a>, and did so through a resolution that recalled that \"the Nazi and communist regimes carried out mass murders, genocide and deportations<\/strong> and caused a loss of life and freedom in the 20th century on a scale unseen in human history.\"<\/em> Several European countries have already banned totalitarian movements, both nazism and communism.<\/a> If we want to protect democracy, that is the way forward, not banning Twitter, which is what communist dictatorships like China and North Korea do.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
