In Montajaque (M\u00e1laga), a town in the Ronda mountains, an unusual situation is unfolding, related to an abandoned reservoir that was never filled. The YouTube channel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/c\/AventurasEntresierras\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aventuras Entresierras<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2022\/10\/12\/an-ideal-place-for-a-movie-the-abandoned-montejaque-dam-and-the-cave-of-hundidero\/\">published a video about the abandoned Montejaque dam in October 2022<\/a>, showing it empty:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Vivac El Hundidero\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2RrU6fRcll0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In that interesting video, <strong>Aventuras Entresierras<\/strong> showed us that dam completely empty.<\/strong> As you may recall, its construction was completed in 1924, after only nine months of work, and it became <strong>the largest arch dam in Spain, at 74 meters high<\/strong>. This is what the inside of its arch looked like in that video published by Aventuras Entresierras:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/52423916745_fa0c1d92b5_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; margin:10px 0 10px 0;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Montejaque dam had a short lifespan and never reached full capacity due to the reservoir's permeable soil<\/strong>, as the impounded water disappeared within hours due to seepage. <strong>What many residents of the area never imagined is the appearance of the Montejaque dam today after the heavy rains.<\/strong> We can see it thanks to a video published a few hours ago by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@ArundaSenderismo\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Arunda Senderismo<\/a>. This media outlet indicates that the delegate of the Andalusian Regional Government in M\u00e1laga, Patricia Navarro, has traveled to Montejaque to reassure its residents and <em>\u201cconvey complete peace of mind regarding the state of the dam, which <strong>is under 24-hour surveillance<\/strong>\u201d<\/em>.
