This explains the reappearance of very light vehicles such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2024\/01\/14\/ford-m151-mutt-el-casi-olvidado-sucesor-del-jeep-willys-y-predecesor-del-humvee\/\">the US Marine Corps' M1161 Growler, which I already discussed here<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Quatripole_Q-150D#\/media\/Archivo:Mula_Mec%C3%A1nica,_Falcata,_MM-1A_Mk-2,_frontal,_Homsec_2015,_Madrid,_Espa%C3%B1a.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Spanish Army's Falcata mechanical mules<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/military.polaris.com\/en-us\/mrzr\/mrzr-d4-military-tan-specs\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">LT-ATV Polaris MRZR D4<\/a>, used by several NATO armies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55085415056_66e1ec0024_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55085415056_01d8766ae8_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>These vehicles share a common philosophy: <strong>very low weight, small size, and priority given to speed and mobility over protection<\/strong>, as they lack armor and in some cases barely resemble a body. <strong>They are vehicles that require little maintenance and have very low fuel consumption<\/strong>, and can carry a maximum of two to four fully equipped soldiers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55085783275_31dd4a384e_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55085783275_66c6b6cac1_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Following the Russian invasion that began on February 24, 2022, <strong>the Ukrainian Armed Forces found themselves in need of these types of vehicles<\/strong>, not only to carry out various missions, but also to replace lost vehicles. <strong>In 2023, a volunteer initiative was launched that resulted in the Khyzhak buggy<\/strong> (Predator, in Ukrainian), often using engines and wheels from <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lada_Niva\/VAZ-2121\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">old Soviet VAZ 2121 off-road vehicles<\/a>, also known as Lada Nivas.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55085622193_b39ddb638e_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55085622193_b585faab93_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>\"<strong>In almost 3 years, the team has already assembled and delivered more than 300 all-terrain and four-wheel-drive vehicles to military units.<\/strong> The buggies are constantly being improved and their production cost is decreasing; now, the project produces one vehicle per day,\"<\/em> notes the Ukrainian website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@Militarnyi\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Militarnyi<\/a>, which <strong>published a video this Friday showing how these rudimentary but effective vehicles are manufactured<\/strong> (the video is in Ukrainian; you can activate automatic English subtitles in the player's bottom bar):<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\u0411\u0430\u0433\u0456 &quot;\u0425\u0438\u0436\u0430\u043a&quot;: \u044f\u043a \u0432\u0456\u0439\u0441\u044c\u043a\u043e\u0432\u0456 \u0441\u0442\u0432\u043e\u0440\u044e\u044e\u0442\u044c \u0434\u0435\u0448\u0435\u0432\u0456 \u043c\u0430\u0448\u0438\u043d\u0438 \u0437\u0430 \u0434\u0435\u043d\u044c\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BVvsQsXCYic?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>These buggies are already being used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces<\/strong>, the National Guard, special operations units, and even fire brigades. <strong>The vehicle has a folding panel at the rear that allows for carrying luggage<\/strong> and, when deployed, becomes a stretcher, enabling the evacuation of a wounded soldier.
