From various quarters, Vox has even been presented as an operation to perpetuate socialism in power. Some have been relentlessly insisting on this idea for years, and despite their efforts, yesterday's elections in Aragon have definitively refuted all those analyses.

Was a result like the one in Aragon unpredictable? Of course not. I'm not a brilliant analyst or a fortune teller, but on October 14, 2018, I pointed out here the shortsightedness of those PP analyses, noting that Vox was the only party capable of mobilizing many voters disillusioned with the PP. But I also wrote the following: "with issues such as national unity, opposition to illegal immigration, gender ideology, and progressive feminism, Vox is also managing to reach left-wing voters who are already fed up with the dogmas of political correctness."

I also added the following: "The PP and Cs are incapable of attracting those voters, because precisely on issues like gender ideology, both parties have fully embraced the progressive discourse." Seven years later, Ciudadanos (Cs) has disappeared from the Spanish Parliament, the European Parliament, and all the regional parliaments where it had representation. As it demonstrated yesterday, the PP not only fails to gain seats but actually loses them, unable to attract those dissatisfied with the PSOE's disastrous management and its corruption scandals.

For years, the PP and its supporters have believed that the alternative to the PSOE was to paint the PSOE blue, adopting the ideological dogmas of the left on issues such as abortion, gender ideology, climate catastrophism, immigration policy, progressive feminism, and even the language policies of nationalism. The fact is that the absurdities stemming from some of these ideological positions are driving away even traditional left-wing voters, because however left-leaning a party may be, the abuses and injustices of gender policies, the effects of illegal immigration, and the impoverishment caused by environmental fanaticism are issues that affect voters on both the left and the right equally.

In the name of a progressive consensus endorsed by the PSOE and the PP, many have been determined to deny these problems and the damage that Spanish society was suffering, systematically resorting to demonization and cancel culture against those who denounced what was happening. Many left-wing voters have ended up being labeled "fascists" for complaining about these problems that only Vox criticized within the institutions. But demonizing those who point out a real problem doesn't make the problem disappear: all it does is make people stop believing in and supporting those who try to censor any denunciation of these events.

Of course, some will learn absolutely nothing from yesterday's results in Aragon. They are so engrossed in their ideological mantras that they already live in a world detached from the real problems of Spaniards. That is why the left will continue to lose voters, and the PP, if it doesn't correct course, will continue to fail to capitalize electorally on the PSOE's collapse. After all, what is the point of voting for a party that promises change and then leaves all the socialist ideological laws untouched?

---

Photo: Vox.
