It had been going on for about 20 minutes nonstop.\"<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-media-max-width=\"665\">\n<p lang=\"es\" dir=\"ltr\">Se acaba de escuchar un HUM incre\u00edble en Alcal\u00e1 de henares! He grabado el momento en el que justo se corta. Llevaba unos 20 minutos sonando sin parar. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Et2YzNwrOg\">pic.twitter.com\/Et2YzNwrOg<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; La Caja Fantasma (@lacajafantasma) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lacajafantasma\/status\/2020962168624046283?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 9, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script> <\/p>\n<p>Other residents in the area heard the same noise. <strong>What was unusual about the noise was that it sounded like a jet engine that wasn't moving<\/strong>, according to some witnesses. In response to the complaints, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AytoAlcalaH\/status\/2021331560834769307\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">yesterday the Alcal\u00e1 de Henares City Council issued a statement<\/a> confirming that they had contacted the Torrej\u00f3n Air Base <em>\"to determine the source of the noise heard on the nights of Monday, February 9th, and Tuesday, February 10th. <strong>This noise comes from tests of the new fuel being carried out on a Eurofighter aircraft<\/strong>.\"<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The statement from the Alcal\u00e1 de Henares City Council added: <em>\"As they explained, <strong>this operation must be carried out at night because sunlight could interfere with the infrared measurements<\/strong>. Furthermore, it must be done outside the hangars prepared for engine testing (which attenuate noise) because these hangars are not sized for this aircraft model. <strong>A final test is scheduled for Wednesday night, after which the trials will conclude<\/strong>.\"<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ejercitodelaireydelespacio.defensa.gob.es\/EA\/ejercitodelaire\/es\/Actualidad\/Noticias\/Noticia\/c23ca085-072a-11f1-b835-005056a2cb59\/?resourceId=c23ca085-072a-11f1-b835-005056a2cb59&path=\/sites\/internet.es\/.content\/noticiaEA\/noticiaEA_01450.xml#gsc.tab=0\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Today the Spanish Air Force published a news item on its website reporting on this test<\/a>: <em>\"During this week, <strong>tests are being carried out at Torrej\u00f3n Air Base to verify whether the use of SAF biofuel emits less infrared radiation than conventional fuel conventional<\/strong>, which requires conducting the tests at night, thus avoiding solar radiation, and outdoors, which, combined with certain weather conditions, means that <strong>the noise produced can be perceptible from some neighboring population centers<\/strong>.\"<\/em><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Prueba banco de motor con combustible sostenible en Eurofighter Base A\u00e9rea de Torrej\u00f3n\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DGTu7q_HD8A?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The Spanish Air Force news report includes this video showing <strong>a Eurofighter Typhoon from Wing 11, C.16-27 (11-27), based at Mor\u00f3n Air Base, activating its afterburner during this biofuel test<\/strong>. The report also includes two photos of the test, showing that <strong>the aircraft was anchored to the runway using the arresting hook located on its tail.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55089647722_894990346d_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55089647722_f56ac44fc2_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Spanish Air Force added the following regarding this test: <em>\"<strong>One of the objectives includes evaluating the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in aircraft propulsion systems.<\/strong> Since the first tests in 2022, with biojet blends, BACSI has accelerated the path towards a greener and more efficient future. Thus, in May 2023, the first results of SAF tests on military aircraft were presented during FEINDEF. <strong>In September 2024, the Spanish Air Force and Space Force once again demonstrated its leadership in innovation and commitment to sustainability by achieving the first supersonic flights with SAF<\/strong>, which were carried out with Eurofighter and F-18 aircraft.\"<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55090737623_2c9901c8ce_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55090737623_baf91fd0fa_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In its statement, the Spanish Air Force notes: <em>\"In these test flights, SAF produced in Spain by Repsol was used, mixed at 30% with conventional fuel, and <strong>it was confirmed that the Air Force and Space Force could maintain its operational capabilities while reducing its dependence on fossil fuels<\/strong>.
