The Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro S\u00e1nchez, is now resorting to a false pacifism to cover up his corruption scandals.<\/p>\n
This explains his growing interest in international affairs while in Spain his political disrepute is reaching new lows<\/strong>, threatening an electoral debacle for his party, the PSOE. Predictably, S\u00e1nchez is now trying to mobilize the radical left by appealing to one of its strongest prejudices: hatred of the United States<\/strong>, a hatred that has led the far left to not hold a single protest in the streets against the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but which just yesterday manifested itself in leftist demonstrations with Russian and Iranian flags and slogans against NATO<\/a>.<\/p>\n S\u00e1nchez has demonstrated his scant interest in human rights in Iran.<\/strong> His own political trajectory proves it. In 2020, the socialist leader accepted human rights advice from that brutal dictatorship<\/a> through the UN, a grotesque situation considering that that regime hangs homosexuals, discriminates against and mistreats women, persecutes Christians, and promotes terrorism<\/strong> on several continents. In January, S\u00e1nchez only dedicated one tweet to rejecting the regime's repression of citizen protests<\/a>, and he published it when those protests had already lasted two weeks and only days after other European leaders began to show interest in the matter, highlighting his silence.<\/p>\n Perhaps S\u00e1nchez is very popular among the Spanish far left and among supporters of the Iranian dictatorship, but the same cannot be said of Iranian democrats. Today, in an interview with the newspaper El Mundo, Iranian dissident Masih Alinejad accuses S\u00e1nchez of \"sidering with our murderers\"<\/a>, with his condemnation of \"the directed, strategic, and calculated military actions against them\"<\/em>. Alinejad states that \"history will judge the Prime Minister of Spain\"<\/em> and has warned that \"appeasement will not stop the war\"<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n On social media, some Iranian dissidents have also made their critical opinion of S\u00e1nchez clear. This Wednesday, an Iranian exile in Spain, @vedaf86, wrote a very clear response to the Spanish socialist leader<\/a>, commenting on one of his messages today and exclaiming \"no to war\":<\/p>\n \"It\u2019s a disgrace. Even in Iran people talk about Pedro S\u00e1nchez and the many corruption scandals surrounding his inner circle and government.<\/strong> Yet across Europe many prefer to look the other way. Everyone knows there are political interests, deals, and calculations behind this silence.<\/strong>\"<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n In a message he wrote in English<\/a> and also in Spanish<\/a>, a language he learned<\/a> by reading newspapers when he lived in Barcelona, \u200b\u200bthis Iranian dissident adds:<\/strong><\/p>\n \"What is most outrageous is the hypocrisy: when the Ayatollah regime was massacring our people just a month and a half ago\u2014with reports of more than 50,000 victims, we saw none of the usual left-wing activists<\/strong>, none of their media campaigns, none of their demonstrations. Nothing. Iranians were alone<\/strong>, just as we have been for 47 years under a brutal regime.<\/p>\n And now, when pressure on the Ayatollahs increases and we ask for support, suddenly the speeches, the \u201cshows,\u201d and the \u201cNo War\u201d slogans appear. Where were you when children were being killed in the streets for asking for freedom?<\/strong>\"<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n This dissident adds in his message his rejection of the left using his people as a pretext in their campaigns:<\/strong><\/p>\n \"If you are not willing to defend the Iranian people when they are being murdered, then do not use Iran for your propaganda when it suits you<\/strong>.
