Numbers stations are often associated with intelligence services and possible communications with spy networks.<\/p>\n<p>Today, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@rferlonline\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Radio Free Europe\/Radio Liberty (RFE\/RL)<\/a> <strong>has released a video of a numbers station captured on February 28<\/strong>, at the start of Operation Epic Fury, the joint US-Israeli attack against the Islamist dictatorship of Iran. <strong>This shortwave station broadcasts the voice of a man repeating numbers in Persian<\/strong>, and according to amateur radio operators, it appears to be transmitting <strong>from somewhere in Western Europe.<\/strong> The video shows a map stretching from northwestern Italy to the Netherlands:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Listen To This Mystery Radio Signal From Day One Of US-Iran War | RFE\/RL Exclusive\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NlcIEmYfTmc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>\"Radio enthusiasts believe it may be a numbers station, <strong>a type of spy radio station historically used to send encrypted coded messages to intelligence agents<\/strong>.
