For the past four years, Vladimir Putin's dictatorship has been directing a strategy of terror against the civilian population of Ukraine.<\/p>\n
That strategy includes systematic attacks against residential buildings, hospitals, schools, playgrounds, universities, museums, and also religious buildings<\/strong>. Of course, I don't expect those who stand idly by while homes and hospitals are attacked to be moved by attacks on churches. What's striking is the double standard applied to reactions to one type of attack versus another.<\/strong><\/p>\n In October 2023, a few weeks after perpetrating the largest antisemitic massacre since the Holocaust, Hamas and the Kremlin spread a hoax about an Israeli \"massacre\" against a church in Gaza<\/a>, announcing that the temple had collapsed. The information was a lie<\/strong> (like so many others spread by this Islamist terrorist organization and by Vladimir Putin's dictatorship). Despite this, many Christians were outraged without needing to see a single shred of evidence for this false information<\/strong>. The antisemites didn't even need it: they always blame Jews for all kinds of crimes without proof, so doing so once again was part of their routine.<\/p>\n Things change when we talk about Russia. Yesterday, images were released clearly showing the attack on a Christian monastery in Lviv, Ukraine.<\/a> A video of the attack clearly shows a Shahed-type suicide drone crashing into the grounds of the Bernardine Monastery. Images of the fire caused by the attack were also released. Despite the evidence, many who believed that Hamas hoax in 2023 chose to remain silent yesterday.<\/strong> This was not a new silence. A year ago I pointed out here that Russia had already attacked almost 600 Christian churches<\/a>, information published by the Ukrainian government and supported by all kinds of photographic evidence. At the time, there was no outcry either.<\/strong> In fact, there are religious news outlets that have not reported on any of these Russian attacks.<\/p>\n Perhaps some are unaware of these attacks and therefore remain silent. I find this likely. In other cases, the explanation is different: if there are no Jews to blame, there are no complaints<\/strong>. And if, in addition, the attacks on churches are perpetrated by Putin's Russia, which some see as the \"Third Rome\" and a point of reference for Christians and conservatives, then silence becomes obligatory due to the sympathy of some toward the terrorist regime in Moscow, which now also translates into a whitewashing of the terrorist regime in Iran<\/strong>, an ally of Russia that has made that Asian nation one of the ten countries where Christians suffer the highest levels of persecution<\/a>.<\/p>\n This should come as no surprise: the extreme right<\/strong> (the real one, the one that supports dictatorships like Putin's and defends openly anti-Semitic positions) is just as fanatical, false, and hypocritical as the extreme left<\/strong>, and is capable of agreeing with the communists, without any shame, in supporting these two terrorist regimes simply because they are enemies of the West\u2014that evil West, for some (because it's globalist) and for others (because it's capitalist). Of course, those who call themselves Christians and sympathize with Putin will remain silent about the Russian attacks on Christian buildings in Ukraine<\/strong>, just as they remained silent when the ayatollahs' regime massacred thousands of protesters for demanding freedom in Iran. They will remain silent, but I will not.<\/strong><\/p>\n This blog has a small audience, but it will continue to report on these attacks, which they remain silent about\u2014attacks that are not accidental.
