Likewise, like other celestial bodies, <strong>our star emits radio signals generated by its electromagnetic radiation<\/strong>, signals that are especially strong during solar flares, <strong>reaching the Earth's ionosphere and potentially affecting our communications.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55175928168_c70ccc1a27_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55175928168_f1186c6d51_z.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">Sunspots captured by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) in February 2013. They were more than six times the size of Earth (Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/svs.gsfc.nasa.gov\/12073\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NASA<\/a>).<\/div>\n<p><strong>Sunspots also emit these types of signals.<\/strong> In March 2024, a scientific study identified <a href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/science-research\/heliophysics\/nasa-supported-team-discovers-aurora-like-radio-bursts-above-sunspot\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a phenomenon similar to a terrestrial aurora<\/a> above a large sunspot, <strong>generating radio bursts lasting more than a week<\/strong>, whereas the Sun usually emits brief radio bursts lasting minutes or hours. However, and <a href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/science-research\/heliophysics\/nasa-supported-team-discovers-aurora-like-radio-bursts-above-sunspot\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">as NASA pointed out<\/a>, <em>\"unlike Earth\u2019s auroras, though, <strong>the radio bursts from sunspots occur at much higher frequencies<\/strong> \u2013 hundreds of thousands of kilohertz to roughly 1 million kilohertz.\"<\/em>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"foto_piedefoto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55175988218_5976e20d67_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55175988218_e7bf0620de_z.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"piedefoto\">A giant sunspot captured by NASA in 2014.
