The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Pierbattista Pizzaballa, published a harsh statement yesterday criticizing the Israeli police<\/a>, claiming that they prevented him from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem<\/strong> as he was heading to celebrate Palm Sunday Mass. As I already indicated yesterday, both the Prime Minister of Israel<\/a> and the Police of that country<\/a> have explained what happened:<\/strong> the Israeli government has established access restrictions to the holy sites of Jerusalem due to the Iranian attacks. These restrictions<\/strong>, announced two weeks ago<\/a>, affect Jews, Muslims, and Christians alike.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Several European politicians criticized Israel, omitting that fact.<\/big><\/p>\n

Many people have rushed to take a stand and criticize Israel, ignoring this fact, including Pedro S\u00e1nchez<\/a>, Viktor Orb\u00e1n<\/a>, Emmanuel Macron<\/a>, Karol Nawrocki<\/a> and Giorgia Meloni<\/a>, thus contributing to generating confusion about a fact that, as I pointed out yesterday, was not fully explained in the statement issued by the Latin Patriarch<\/strong>, which clearly omitted the reason why the Israeli Police had prevented him from accessing the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.<\/p>\n

The Latin patriarch, after the controversy: \u201cIt is true that the Police had said that the orders of the Internal Command prevented any type of meeting in places without shelter\u201d<\/big><\/p>\n

Yesterday afternoon, when that statement was already circulating around the world, the Italian media outlet Tv2000.it published statements from the patriarch clarifying what happened<\/a>:<\/p>\n
