The Galician company UROVESA, manufacturer of the famous VAMTAC tactical vehicle, presented yesterday a new variant of another of its models.<\/p>\n

This vehicle, which had not been unveiled until now, was spotted during His Majesty King Felipe VI\u2019s visit to the Legion\u2019s \u201c\u00c1lvarez de Sotomayor\u201d Base in Viator<\/strong> (Almer\u00eda), which took place this Thursday.<\/p>\n

The Royal Household's website has published four images of this vehicle<\/a>, in which we can see its front, its right side, and the interior, with the King of Spain sitting behind the wheel.<\/p>\n

The vehicle shown on Viator has a red license plate, which indicates a temporary registration<\/strong>, typically used for vehicles without a permanent license plate and during the testing period.<\/p>\n

This presentation took place during the 3rd edition of the Tactical Experimentation Campaign (TEC-3)<\/strong>, organized by the Army's Future Force Center at the aforementioned Viator base. The event served as a forum to showcase technological advancements and emerging solutions and to evaluate their potential integration into the Army. UROVESA has announced<\/a> that the company\u2019s president, Justo Sierra Rey, and its Director of Programs, Beatriz Arribas Valiente, presented this vehicle to the King<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

The Galician company notes that this is \u201cthe new variant of the VAMTL (Light Tactical High Mobility Vehicle) with N1 ballistic add-on armor (in accordance with STANAG 4569)<\/strong>\u201d.<\/em> <\/p>\n

UROVESA markets the VAM-TL as the VAMTAC LTV<\/a>. The vehicle on which the model unveiled yesterday in Viator is based is not new, as it has been on the market for over two decades.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

The VAM-TL was UROVESA's proposal to replace the Spanish Army's aging Land Rover and Nissan Patrol off-road vehicles<\/strong>. The competition to replace them took place in 2004. The VAM-TL was a vehicle specifically designed for military purposes<\/strong>, while its competitor, the Santana An\u00edbal, was a civilian vehicle. The socialist government of Jos\u00e9 Luis Rodr\u00edguez Zapatero opted for the An\u00edbal<\/ , even though the VAM-TL was a better vehicle.\n\n<\/a><\/p>\n

The An\u00edbal was manufactured in Andalusia, a region governed by the PSOE (Zapatero\u2019s party)<\/strong>, while the VAM-TL was manufactured in Galicia, a region governed by the Popular Party. It was a clear political decision that harmed the Army.<\/strong> One of many. From then on, our soldiers had to deal with the Hannibal\u2019s numerous mechanical and design problems. Ironically, the VAM-TL was purchased by the Moroccan Army<\/a>. Above, we can see its ambulance version.<\/p>\n
