Furthermore, I believe that when using Twitter or any other social network, there are some things to keep in mind regarding security:

Use strong passwords. They should be at least 10 to 12 characters long and combine uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. It's recommended not to use a password you already use for other services. It's also recommended to use a password manager. Options include Bitwarden, 1Password, or your web browser. If you learn that your password is included in a data breach (services like Google will notify you of this), change it immediately.

Never click on suspicious links or share your credentials. Failure to follow this rule (in addition to the previous ones) is what causes many accounts to be taken down. You should never enter your account details (username, password, and associated phone number or email address) outside of X's official domain (x.com). X will never ask for this information via private message or email.

Enable two-factor authentication. This system prevents anyone from accessing your account even if they have the password, as it requires you to confirm your login using different methods to verify your identity. To activate this feature, go to your account settings. In the app, tap the home icon (bottom left) and then your profile icon (top left). On the website, go to the "More" section (a circle with three dots). In both cases, follow this path: Settings and privacy > Security and account access > Security > Two-factor authentication. You'll see several login authentication options. I recommend using an authenticator app (like Google Authenticator, Authy, or Microsoft Authenticator) instead of SMS.

Set up a phone number and email address to recover your account. This will give you a way to regain control of your account if it's hacked. You can set this information in Settings and Privacy > Your Account > Account Information. Also, turn on Password Reset Protection to require email or phone verification before changing your password.

Do not share personal information in public messages that could be used to access your account. This includes your password, the email address you have set up for password recovery (it's a good idea to use a specific one for this), and the mobile phone number associated with your account. This information can provide hackers with ways to access and steal your account.

Review connected apps periodically. You can use X (Twitter) to sign in to various services and apps. If some are unfamiliar or outdated, it's best to revoke their authorization. You can check this in Settings and privacy > Security and account access > Apps and sessions > Connected apps.

Keep the devices you use to connect to X (Twitter) clean. Obviously, I don't mean just wiping them down occasionally (although that's not a bad idea either), but rather keeping your operating system and applications updated (these updates usually include improvements to fix security vulnerabilities in older versions) and having reliable antivirus software, since malware (malicious software used on many websites) can be used to steal your information and access your account.

Review your account activity periodically. X (Twitter) stores this information so you can see at any time which sites have accessed your account and if there are any suspicious connections. You can review this information in Settings and privacy > Security and account access > Apps and sessions.

You can get more security tips directly on X's website through the following link: https://help.x.com/en/safety-and-security/account-security-tips.

---

Image: Meta.ai.

In recent days I have learned of several cases of people in my circle who have lost their X (Twitter) accounts due to hacking.

[10395
1168
post-64740","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-social-media","tag-twitter
["GET
