Eight days ago we saw <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2026\/03\/05\/airbus-shows-the-future-spanish-c295w-military-aircraft-in-three-configurations\/\">the first three Spanish C295W MSAs already completed<\/a> and awaiting their first flight.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55267342107_80a92bdab5_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55267342107_ec17f489fc_z.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2026\/05\/05\/airbus-shows-the-first-three-completed-spanish-c295w-msa-military-aircraft\/\">On March 5th, Airbus displayed four of the future Spanish C295W military aircraft on its assembly line.<\/a> Two of the aircraft were the MTA (transport) variant, one was an MSA (maritime surveillance) variant, and <strong>the fourth was an MPA (maritime patrol) variant, which can be seen alongside these lines.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55268251246_087486a299_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55268251246_d6345ace65_z.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The C295W we saw in those images was the S-260.<\/strong> Its main difference from the C295W MSA and MTA we saw in those images is <strong>the SatCom antenna that the MPA carries on top<\/strong>, in front of the wings. Like the MSA, the MPA will have an EO\/IR turret on the underside of the nose and the multimode maritime search radar on the underside of the fuselage. <strong>In addition, the MPA will carry the Magnetic Anomaly Detector (MAD) stinger on the tail<\/strong>, a tool that the P-3M Orion already had for submarine detection.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55267342122_838829b72a_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55267342122_cf22a5689b_z.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AirbusDefence\/status\/2054510928838721577\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Airbus Defence has today published four photos of the first Spanish C295W MPA<\/a>, noting that its production <em>\"continues to progress at our Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Seville. <strong>The first power on has just been completed, representing a key milestone in the industrial process.<\/strong>\"<\/em> Above, we see the starboard engine nacelle and its propeller, with the blades covered in protective sleeves.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55268486474_539cb46224_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55268486474_65d8ac5f8b_z.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Airbus Defence photos also show the interior of this aircraft.<\/strong> We see the cockpit above (with large multifunction displays), and <strong>below we see the compartment that will house the four consoles of the Fully Integrated Tactical System (FITS)<\/strong>, where the mission operators will sit; the rest area; the two observer seats and a sonobuoy launcher.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55268389018_1e1d4870ce_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55268389018_f67a0cd3cf_z.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>\"<strong>The C295 MPA will be equipped to carry out anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare<\/strong>, command and control (C2), and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. <strong>It will also be capable of carrying armaments such as torpedoes and other weapon systems<\/strong>,\"<\/em> Airbus Defence stated. The C295W MPA will carry this armament on underwing pylons, as, unlike the P-3 Orion, this aircraft does not have an internal weapons bay.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55268650700_d20cd874a4_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55268650700_50bef6cabb_z.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>In this fourth photo, we see the front of the aircraft.<\/strong> These are the ESM\/ELINT (Electronic Support Measures\/Electronic Intelligence) sensors, for anti-submarine warfare, maritime patrol, and intelligence missions.
