Two months ago, the YouTube channel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@TheStoryTillNow\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Story Till Now<\/a> <strong>ventured into the Kootenay Mountains<\/strong> in the southern part of that Canadian province. The video they published shows <strong>a journey in two Jeeps along an old railway line in the dead of winter<\/strong>, leading to an old and eerie tunnel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Construction of the Bulldog Tunnel began in 1898<\/strong>, as part of a Canadian Pacific Railway line to connect Pup Creek with Dog Creek. <a href=\"https:\/\/open.library.ubc.ca\/viewer\/cascade\/1.0067557#p0z0r0f:\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">In mid-September 1899, two tunnel workers, James Pease and J. Gilbert, died of asphyxiation inside the tunnel<\/a> after entering it too soon following a blast, without waiting for the gases to dissipate. <strong>The tunnel was closed in 1961, after a long history of misfortunes<\/strong> that included derailments, rockfalls, and other accidents.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The railway line was completely abandoned in 1991 and today it is a greenway<\/strong>, without rails, which can be driven on by off-road vehicle, as we see in the video, in which its protagonists go in search of <strong>Renata, a ghost town submerged by the construction of a reservoir in 1968<\/strong> and whose remains are only visible when the water level drops:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"We Found an Abandoned Railway Leading to a Hidden Ghost Town\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mq-jnmMnzlY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>You can see some screenshots from this interesting video here, which has excellent recording quality.
