Canada has a huge territory (it is the second largest country in the world) and is full of places that are a magnet for adventurers.<\/p>\n
One of the most rugged territories in the country is British Columbia<\/strong>, Canada's westernmost province. Two months ago, the YouTube channel The Story Till Now<\/a> ventured into the Kootenay Mountains<\/strong> in the southern part of that Canadian province. The video they published shows a journey in two Jeeps along an old railway line in the dead of winter<\/strong>, leading to an old and eerie tunnel.<\/p>\n Construction of the Bulldog Tunnel began in 1898<\/strong>, as part of a Canadian Pacific Railway line to connect Pup Creek with Dog Creek. In mid-September 1899, two tunnel workers, James Pease and J. Gilbert, died of asphyxiation inside the tunnel<\/a> after entering it too soon following a blast, without waiting for the gases to dissipate. The tunnel was closed in 1961, after a long history of misfortunes<\/strong> that included derailments, rockfalls, and other accidents.<\/strong><\/p>\n The railway line was completely abandoned in 1991 and today it is a greenway<\/strong>, without rails, which can be driven on by off-road vehicle, as we see in the video, in which its protagonists go in search of Renata, a ghost town submerged by the construction of a reservoir in 1968<\/strong> and whose remains are only visible when the water level drops:<\/p>\n
