{"id":65224,"date":"2026-05-28T23:00:29","date_gmt":"2026-05-28T21:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/?p=65224"},"modified":"2026-06-03T22:08:23","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T20:08:23","slug":"the-united-states-army-tested-two-ultra-armed-robotic-vehicles-in-morocco","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2026\/05\/28\/the-united-states-army-tested-two-ultra-armed-robotic-vehicles-in-morocco\/","title":{"rendered":"The United States Army tested two ULTRA armed robotic vehicles in Morocco"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The use of robotic vehicles in military forces is becoming increasingly widespread in the air, at sea, and also on land.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2025\/07\/30\/overland-ai-ultra-the-robotic-vehicle-tested-by-the-united-states-army-in-georgia\/\">Overland AI ULTRA, the robotic vehicle tested by the United States Army in Georgia<\/a><\/rel><br \/>\n<rel><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2026\/03\/26\/leonidas-agv-a-robotic-vehicle-to-shoot-down-drones-without-using-bullets-or-missiles\/\">Leonidas AGV, a robotic vehicle to shoot down drones without using bullets or missiles<\/a><\/rel><\/p>\n<p>As you may recall, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outono.net\/elentir\/2025\/07\/30\/overland-ai-ultra-the-robotic-vehicle-tested-by-the-united-states-army-in-georgia\/\">last July we featured the Overland AI ULTRA here<\/a>, <strong>an autonomous robotic vehicle capable of reaching a speed of 56 km\/h off-road<\/strong>, using high-performance movements, recognizing and avoiding obstacles, thanks to a SPARK system developed by Overland AI, which <strong>uses LiDAR cameras to detect terrain features using lasers.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticfalickr.com\/65535\/54688523752_9cb00a3a3b_b.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/54688523752_9cb00a3a3b_c.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Like unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), <strong>the ULTRA is designed to operate in swarms<\/strong>. At the time, the manufacturer of this autonomous vehicle demonstrated its capabilities for transport missions. <strong>Today, Overland AI released a video showing tests conducted by the US Army with armed versions of the ULTRA<\/strong> during Exercise African Lion 2026, held in Morocco between April 20 and May 8.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Send the Robot First\" width=\"665\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nuaRgRRdxy4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>The video shows the ULTRA performing three types of missions:<\/strong> deploying anti-vehicle smart munitions systems, providing weapon support with a machine gun, and clearing roads. <strong>The video notes that these tests were conducted by three U.S. Army units:<\/strong> the 173rd Airborne Brigade, the 7th Engineer Brigade, and the 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55300003698_eb1aa3ca03_o.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/live.staticflickr.com\/65535\/55300003698_6770758a68_z.jpg\" style=\"width:100%; height:auto; border:0px;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Here we see vehicle number 2 equipped with four XM204 smart anti-vehicle munition systems<\/strong>, two on each side. The XM204 was developed by Textron Systems.
