Today we received news of a terrible traffic accident in which five members of the Chartered Police of Navarre have died.<\/p>\n

The Chartered Police of Navarre have announced this sad news in a message posted at 4:47 PM CET<\/a> on their official Twitter account:<\/p>\n

Today is a day of immense sorrow for the entire Chartered Police family.<\/p>\n

With broken hearts, we confirm the tragic death of five of our colleagues this morning in a traffic accident on the AP-8 highway, near Elgoibar<\/strong>. Words cannot describe the void they leave among us.<\/p>\n

Our colleagues were traveling with the hope and commitment to continue contributing and building together, on their way to a work meeting with the Ertzaintza (Basque Police).<\/strong> Their dedication to service remained with them until the very end.<\/p>\n

To their families, friends, and loved ones: you are not alone.<\/strong> We send you all our love, our most sincere embrace, and our strength to face this profound grief that we share today. Their memory and their dedication will remain with us forever. They leave an indelible mark on this Chartered Police family<\/strong>, and for that reason, we want you to know that you are in our hearts.<\/p>\n

We want to express our immense gratitude for the support and affection we are receiving from so many places, both within and outside of Navarre. Especially to all the security forces:<\/strong> we have felt your closeness and affection. Special thanks to our brothers and sisters in the Ertzaintza and to the Basque authorities for their helping hand, their collaboration, and their support during these dark times.<\/p>\n
